    Big East pursuing Boise?

Report -- Big East, Boise State Broncos still need persuading - ESPN

Desperate times for the Big East I guess. This makes even less sense than TCU did.

    Re: Big East pursuing Boise?

I have no interest in seeing Boise in the Big 12, but I do think it would be funny if we came sniffing around again after the Big East thinks they have a done deal.

Without Boise, the Big East has a 0% chance to be a BCS conference 7-8 years from now.

Yeah, that makes sense... you know... because Idaho is on the east side of the United States...

Number one I wish the conferences would just stay the way they were. That being said do you really think the Big 12 has become the big poacher? Seriously? There is more to a conference than a second rate football team.

    Re: Big East pursuing Boise?

I think they are up for bcs review in 2 years and without a getting a big team they won't score high enough to keep it. They are very desperate, but my guess is they might not even exist in 2 years

As long as they exist, they'll be in the BCS for at least 4 more years.

This post seems angry for no real reason. I'm far from a re-alignment fan.

Boise doesn't have the best academic track record do they?

    Re: Big East pursuing Boise?

Hahaha I was reading about the Big East mess on another message board and WOW! What a mess it is!

    Here's a few good lines:

So the Big East can't agree to ANYTHING ABOUT ANYTHING regarding realignment, but did agree on one thing: to give a league job to Jeff Hathaway, the UConn AD who lost his job there via scandal and violations.
Tweet of note: A quote from Mike Brey telling his AD that it's imperitave that if the BEast breaks up, staying in an eastern conference is a priority.
Sounds like RU wants to give the AD the power to explore conference options. This was rumored almost simultaneously to a Navy release where they asked all Big East members to commit to the league before they joined.
    What the hell...

Navy is demanding the league commit to a raised exit fee before it will consider joining the Big East.

Also according to this report, an exit fee in the neighborhood of $17-20M was on the table.
    What a mess.

    http://www.nj.com/rutgersfootball/index ... cloud.html

    The bulletpoints:

-Villanova is spending a lot of energy trying to block Temple. They want Temple for football only, football schools want them for all sports. Apparently Nova is committed to twiddling their thumbs in FCS

-The basketball schools are asking for a FIFTEEN year commitment from the football schools, which was promptly shot down

-Louisville, Cinci, and USF are trying to shoot down the idea of Boise. The football schools are 3-3, deadlocked, on whether to invite Boise for football-only

-The rumor is the loss of Louisville and WVU to the Big 12 would be the straw that breaks Notre Dame's back and would have them leave

-Rutgers pulled back a bit and said they didn't give the AD official rights to explore conference movement. But they announced they'd consider it, there were rumors....they did everything short of actually authorizing looking at other conference. Good God.
And this just in from Brent McMurphy at CBS Sports:

Once divided on whether to invite Boise State, the Big East is now united on extending an invitation to the Broncos, along with Air Force, Navy and UCF, college football industry sources told CBSSports.com...

On Sunday the Big East's presidents and chancellors are expected to vote and approve an increased exit fee of at least $10 million for football members. Thatís double the current amount ($5 million), but less than what Marinatto proposed in an Oct. 2 meeting...

Houston, SMU and Temple are being considered for the final two spots. However, one source said Houston and SMU are expected to get the final two spots because of Villanovaís concerns about adding Temple into the league.

Boise State, Air Force and Navy would join as football-only members. UCF, Houston and SMU would join as full members.
Which would put them at 12 football teams and 16 basketball teams. For now anyways. Till Mizzou and the SEC figure out what they're doing...

Actually, I think the proposed conference would have 12 football and 17 basketball. Not that it matters because either more schools will leave or some of invitees will turn the invite down.

Interesting that the CBS sports report has Boise now being invited.

    Re: Big East pursuing Boise?

If you were a current Big East school would you really sign up to double the buyout so you can be locked into a conference with a bunch of mid-major schools? Yikes.

    Re: Big East pursuing Boise?

If I were the Big 12, I'd send out an invite to Louisville right now...before that exit fee gets increased. If Mizzou decides to stay, they can stick at 11 for awhile.

    Re: Big East pursuing Boise?

If you're in the Big East, how ****** are you about this story? Neinas had said 10 for next year and now we have this:

Oklahoma State President Burns Hargis told CBSSports.com he prefers a 12-team Big 12 Conference, but admits there is no consensus whether the league should be a 10-team or 12-team league.

“I think we’ll have serious conversations at our next (Big 12) board meeting (in two weeks) about whether the league should be 10 or 12 teams,” Hargis said at halftime of the Oklahoma State-Texas game.

Texas athletic director DeLoss Dodds has said he prefers a 10-team model, but would be open to 12 schools. Oklahoma officials, including Coach Bob Stoops, have said they prefer 12, but are most concerned with what provides stability.

“There is no consensus from conference members on going to 10 or 12 members,” Big 12 interim commissioner Chuck Neinas said last week.
Hahahahaha Neinas is going to destroy the Big East via the Mount America Conference and adding 3 BE teams. Hahaha Suckers...
