Great stuff!!! I'm still excited to see Melvin play.

I enjoy seeing our "less noticed" guy getting noticed by sites like that.

Agree. I'm thinking I like Melvin flying under the radar, I think it's a role he'll do very well in.

steel sharpens steel one of the first things we heard about off season improvement was Ejim's handle.

I saw the subject and thought wow, there's a guy I haven't heard about for a while. Scary to think how good this team has the potential be when a guy like Ejim is hardly getting mentioned!

    Re: Melvin Ejim

Ejim is going to have a good year, he'll be a strong rebounder. I'm guessing he'll average around 12pts and 8rb, but he'll have games where he just goes off.

    Good point.

Seems like he's going to be a significant contributor, yet seems lost in the mix.

Man, I hope this team dazzles to the level of its promise.

    Re: Melvin Ejim

gonna have a breakout year...can see him averaging 13 points and 5-6 reb a game easily...

    PG Allen
    SG SC
    SF Ejim
    PF White
    PF Booker

that's my guess for the first game lineup with Railey out Gibson will get a lot of time and Babb will be the first guard off the bench with McGee getting major PT as well

    Re: Melvin Ejim

I heard Heft make the comparison to Grayer.

I have an uncle that is a big Cyclone fan, and he has VHS (yes VHS) tapes of Grayer when he played at Iowa State. I watched Michigan NCAA game in 86 a few weeks ago with him.

They do look similar. Grayer was obviously more polished, and a better player. But you could see moments where it all slowed down for Melvin, and the comparison was at least in the ball park.

He shied away from contact a lot last year, which obviously Grayer never did. Hopefully, a year of weight training, and moving to the wing, a more natural position for him, will help him learn to take hits.

He has a lot of talent, good pick up by chewy. Thank God for Melvin's sake he wasn't coached by mcdermott, he would have transferred by now.

Substitute Babb for Booker. Pretty sure that was what the Mayor said would be the starting five if they played today. But as much as this team will run, I see frequent subs and lots of points!

Big-big year for the sophomore. Looking for him to take it up a notch and them some this season.

Time to get back to winning, a lot.

Go Cyclones! Go win the Big 12!!!

A fair comparison at this point. To lay real credence as a sophomore, Ejim will need to average about 20pts/game this year. I'm not sure he's going to be on the wing, as he seems stronger closer to the basket. I can see him getting a lot of short jumpers if Royce is grabbing peoples attention.
