    Problems with Google/iGoogle

Has anyone ever had problems when if you click the search result from google, it doesn't go to the desired website but to another search engine ?

These situations have happened quite regularly in the last 4-5 days and I just wonder what has been going on.

    Thanks !

    Your computer has spyware/malware.

Yup, run an anti-virus program on it, and you should be fine. Had this happen to my work computer earlier this year.

    Thanks !
I have Miscrosoft Security Essentials but apparently that's not enough.
I am tempted to buy Malwarebytes (the pay version). Anyone has experience with it ?

Use the free Malwarebytes. I can't remember any actual benefits of the paid version.

I have malwerebybtes as well as AVG and I had the same issue last week. I did a system restore to a week earlier and it fixed my problem.

    Re: Problems with Google/iGoogle

Scanned it using malwarebytes and found that several files were infected and the registry values were infected too.
This is the log from malwarebytes:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\DirectxUpdatePol icy (Trojan.SHarpro.PGen) -> Value: DirectxUpdatePolicy -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\Classes Update (Trojan.SHarpro.PGen) -> Value: Classes Update -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.

I scanned it again twice and malwarebytes said that everything was clean. So I can assume that my computer is now virus free because these 2 registries are still in the Quarantine section (although MWB said they've been quarantined and deleted) ?

    Re: Problems with Google/iGoogle

Sometimes the ad servers on CF cause trouble.

But I can't quit you, CF.

My malware/spyware programs do not catch it. I have to do a system restore or a reboot in order to wipe it clean. PITA.

I was a victim of a series of accidents, as are we all.
