    Conference realignment

Here are a couple of thoughts on the subject. Since football drives most conferences try this on for size.

    Thought one.

Iowa State, MU, KSU, KU all break off from Big 12 and add BSU, BYU, AF, Louisville and Cincinatti. Maybe get UConn, Rutgers and WVU. Call it the Northern 12

    Thought two

ISU, KU, KSU, MU, OU, OSU and BSU, BYU, AF, TTU, TCU, Baylor and call it the Great 12

you could add Texas and drop AF if you want. Or drop all Texas schools and add Louisville, Cincinatti, and one more.

I know, sounds a little off base but what if the four schools that seem to get leftout put a little pressure on the rest. Problem is MU seems to think they are better than they are.

    What do you think?

If you want the Iowa State athletics department to implode, these are fabulous ideas.

No offense, but you are clueless. ISU is guaranteed not to be left out of anything. It is a stone cold lock. The only questions are 10 or 12 teams and will Mizzou be there or not.

I think you need to take a step away from the keyboard and do a little more reading on conference realignment and what is plausible and beneficial to Iowa State and what is not. Those solutions would never result in quality TV money like we have now and are absolutely outrageous in terms of plausibility.

"Guaranteed" is a strong word after all that's been said and done. True, the Big XII is our best situation and seems "stable" for a few years. A move to another major conference is possible, but, not likely. A move to a step down like the Big East may be preferable to being an independent. If the worst happens, a new conference as a parachute isn't an insane speculation. How quickly we forget that twice in little over a year, many feared, with cause, the worst case scenario.

“We’ve got a pretty good football conference, and we’ve got a pretty good conference overall. We’re still walking around with our heads held high and our chest out, about that.” Paul Rhoads
