    Re: arizona and stoops

After having a thread about Iowa attempting to poach a couple of our recruits we would look very hypocritical if we did this. I would prefer to see those recruits decommitt and contact us instead of us "poaching" them.

Is Stoops an offensive or defensive coach?

He was DC at both K-State and OU. Played safety and was a GA at Iowa.

I bet the Hawks would give him a shot as a DC if Norm Parker retires.

    Re: arizona and stoops

Mike Stoops is an excellent d coordinator. His defenses specialize in putting pressure on the offense. He does not coach a bend but not break defense. His philosophy is the direct opposite of that of Norm Parker.

They won't from my understanding. Kirk got rid of him soon after he got there. They talked about it on Miller and Deace today. Stoops' personality it too strong and doesn't mesh well with KF's.

We poach recruits every year. Some of our best players are poached, such as KO and Shontrelle. Its just how recruiting works. I don't blame Iowa for coming after Bevins. He is obviously a very good prospect.

Mike was already at K-State and on his way to OU with Bob when Ferentz was hired at Iowa.

Oh my bad. I guess they were just saying that KF removed all of the bigger personalities from the staff. Miller and Deace called them "old school" whatever that means. They ended the segment saying there was 0% chance he would be hired by Iowa.

Could we simmer their recruits in some form of a liquid? Possible, though I doubt that would benefit anyone.

While not as bad a Bo Pelini, the guy is a nut case. I would much rather play for Rhoads, I hope they are capable of logic.

    Re: arizona and stoops

Stoops is very animated on the sidelines, somestimes to the point of being out of control.

    Re: arizona and stoops

AFter Iowa played at Arizona last year, there was a lot of hard feelings to Stoops and AZ atheletic dept for the way their fans treated the Iowa fans and i think barta made some public comments, don't think he will go back to Iowa.

    Re: arizona and stoops

Ah, I didn't consider the personality and defensive philosophy differences.
I agree, there probably isn't much chance he comes back to Iowa.

Maybe he can be head coach when Kirk goes to the NFL this year.
