    If that isn't a fumble...

then shouldn't it have been intentional grounding?

This might be sour grapes, but I think it is now a fact - Big XII officials suck.

NCAA officiating in general has been pretty horrible, but the rest of the nation has just caught up with the Big XII now.

Can you review for Intentional grounding? Because they called it a fumble on the field originally. Either way, on the replay I saw their RB in the area.

So, it there a tuck rule in college. The announcers certainly didn't know.

I did find this thread on BYI board from 18Sep that says that there isn't.

Those were Texas refs just like last game. I knew right away we would get screwed over and that it was going to get overturned.

Re: If that isn't a fumble...

not sure why it wasn't called grounding. Intentional grounding is when a quarterback throws an incomplete pass toward an area of the field where there is clearly no eligible receiver. The quarterback must be between the tackle box and behind the line of scrimmage.... unless there was a receiver in the two feet that RGIII threw the ball, the penalty should have been called. Because it was a penalty and they did not call it plus the ruling on the field was a fumble, they could not call the penalty after the play occurred.

In my mind they should have either.

#1 originally called intentional grounding if it was an incomplete pass
#2 since they obviously though it was a fumble (they called it a fumble on the field) it shouldn't have been overturned.

I have never been more ****** at a replay official. That just tells me the Big XII will always protect Texas teams. There is no way there is nothing in the replay to change the call on the field.

Re: If that isn't a fumble...

I think it's a catch 22 for the officials though. They ruled fumble on the field, so they didn't throw the flag. But upon review they said incomplete pass, but they can't throw they flag on review. At least I don't think they can.

First, it was called a fumble and should have stayed a fumble since the ball came loose after he finished moving his arm forward. So we have another bad job out of the replay official.

Given that, it should not have been penalized as intentional grounding as the intentional part is a required component of that infraction plus you can not use replay to flag an infraction even if it is obvious on the video review.
