And we thought the Big 12 was slow at reacting....

Big East presidents today "discussed" a new exit fee, but no movement towards adding new schools. And reports last night that Navy and the AFA had said no thanks so the Big East is going to add ECU and UCF to make the league more attractive. Just wow. Even some coaches in the Big East are surprised by this sudden fall.

That is because no team is joining until they can show some stability. You can show some stability by making it harder for teams to leave...thus the higher exit fee discussion.

That's really their next logical step -- raid CUSA. It happened last time.

    THEN:
ACC takes Miami, VT and BC from Big East
Big East takes Cincy, Louisville and USF from CUSA (plus independent UConn)
CUSA takes UCF and Marshall from the MAC; Rice, SMU, UTEP, Tulsa from the WAC

    NOW:
ACC takes Pitt and Syracuse from Big East
Big East takes UCF and ECU from CUSA
CUSA takes Temple from the MAC (leaves MAC with 12) and either FIU/FAU from Sun Belt (to regain Florida ties)

I wouldn't be surprised if Temple skipped the CUSA step and went right to the Big East. They may be looking to get back into PA after losing Pitt. One thing is for sure, the Big East is losing at least one more team. Either Mizzou leaves and the Big 12 takes Louisville, or Mizzou stays and the SEC grabs WV. Personally (and unfortunately) I believe that Mizzou is gone. Which means hello Louisville (and probably BYU and Tulane).

That would make the Big East FB conference something like:

    WVU
    UCONN
    Rutgers
    USF
    UCF
    Cincy
    ECU
    Temple
    Houston
    SMU

Funny. Everyone at Louisville including their AD and the local media were laughing and mocking towards the Big XII a month ago when the rumor came out that the Big XII might be interested in Louisville. My how their tune has changed. The same writers talking smack about the Big XII are now writing articles kissing the Big XII's *** hoping that Louisville will get an invitation. Louisville fans that laughed at the idea and ripped on the Big XII are now praying every waking moment that the Cardinals will get a call.

These Big East schools are simply following the example of Mizzou/A&M. They say they are loyal, they say they want to stay put, but they are simply working behind closed doors in an attempt to get the hell out of the Big East ASAP.

I guess it was football only. That makes sense.

Temple was in the BE until 2005... they were kicked out for years of dreadful football...
