    14 Teams?

I guess the stupid side of my brain is blocking the not so stupid side. How would conference scheduling work with 14 teams? I assume two 7 team divisions. Obviously, you'd play the other six in your division every year, but what about the cross-divisional play? It looks to me like you'd have uneven numbers of conference games in different years.

The 12 team layout makes perfect sense: play the other five in your division, and half the teams in the other. 8 conference games, allowing for 4 non-cons. Seems like some years you'd have one more home or one more away game, but at least it made sense, and was repeatable.

Play the other 6 in your division plus 2 from the other side. 8 Games. Otherwise, you could get more creative I'm sure.

Two divisions of seven. Play each team in your division once and then play six Big 10 teams in non-conference. Guarantees bowl eligibility for all conference teams.

    Re: 14 Teams?

I'm with you. I don't like the idea of there being teams in your conference that hardly feel like they are in your conference because you are rarely playing them (and even more rarely seeing them at home). For the record I like 10 a lot, but getting back to 12 would make much more sense than 14 or 16.
