TCU to Big 12 impact on non-AQ

One of the most interesting things about this whole thing to me is that we get to see how a team that has been dominating a lower conference will cope with playing the big boys for 9 or 10 games a season instead of 2 or 3. They have shown they can win in one game vs bigtime oppenents, but can they do it week in and week out?

Seems like a step to the Big East would have made the transition easier for them. Should be interesting.

ISU doesn't beat TCU head-to-head for Texas recruits as it is.

However, I tend to agree with this:
    ChuckCarltonDMN Chuck Carlton
MT @gkketch: TCU to the Big 12 could be a real thorn for A&M in recruiting. Those two schools have been squaring off more than either vs. UT

TCU's recruiting will improve a great deal overnight.

I think they will have a transition period of getting used to playing good game everyweek. But I think after a couple years they will be solid.

that is because they are NON AQ now and would have been Big east in the future.

why would a recruit want to leave the state of texas and come to ISU when they can stay in state and play in the same league.

Conference Prestige Is ISU's biggest selling point in recruiting IMO

I don't know that TCU joining the Big 12 will hurt our recruiting out of Texas as we can sell 1 more game played in Texas every other year to the recruits.

I think Texas A&M going to the SEC hurts us more opening up Texas recruiting to the SEC teams with deep pocket$.

Re: TCU to Big 12 impact on non-AQ

Yeah, I don't think this is as big of a deal recruiting-wise as maybe some people are thinking for us. Houston may have been, so I'm glad to see it's not them.

Will be interesting to see how TCU does.

This could actually help out Texas recruiting with an extra game every 2 years in Texas. Depends on scheduling though and if we go to 12 teams.

Assuming we stop at 10 and TCU just takes over A&M's schedule, will be cool to have them in Ames for the first time for Homecoming 2013.

You didn't read his post. ISU doesn't beat TCU for recruits already. Them joining the Big 12 won't hurt us that much.

Your correct I did not read his post correctly. Do we really not get better recruits than TCU?

Well, TCU has been a top 20 program the last few years, got a couple BCS bids, and won the Rose Bowl..... They also beat a pretty good ISU team in the Houston Bowl. Is is really hard to believe that they would get better recruits than we do?
