    Big XII Expansion

It seems things are moving and will hopefully settle soon. First likely addition - TCU. They're no stranger to good competition with GA, NCSt, Houston, OU and T&M on the schedule this year. In recent years they were 22-11 NIT (including loss to ISU), 22-9 1st Rnd NCAA, 20-11 1st Rnd NCAA. With the exception of one player from Oklahoma, the entire squad comes from Texas, including rsJr. Whitney Williams who we will see next year - welcome back. I don't know if this will impact our Texas recruiting.

Of that list, Cincinnati is the only one without a good WBB program. They last cracked the RPI top 50 in 2003. Any of the other three would be decent additions (like TCU is).

I'm not enthusiastic about bring a Huggins MBB into Hlton, but, that's Fred's problem. With the imminent demise of the Big East, there is no challenge to the Big XII in WBB. Referring to collegerpi:

WVU is the best of the four, recently, in terms of WBB. rpi 29 They were 24-10 last year, losing to BU in the second round. They bested us in St. Thomas. It's tempting to prefer a softer schedule, but, I say we go for the best - time for us to upgrade - we either get better or we get beat. We need a top 20 team to replace A&M.

Cinncinati was 9-20 rpi 168 - not Big XII material.

Louisville was 22-12, beat WVU, lost to Marist rpi 39 beat 2 seed Xavier before losing to 11 seed Gonzaga in the sweet sixteen.

BYU finished 25-9 with rpi 59 After a 1 pt loss to Utah in the conference tournament, they lost to USC in the WNIT. I could be wrong, but, i think we last encountered them in a late game meltdown NCAA game in Hilton.

You can have too much of a good thing. If we get either WVU or Louisville, the other might be piling on and I'd rather have BYU.

    1. BYU for overall athletic program.
2, Cincinnati - improves Ohio for all sports recruiting and is clearly another northern school.
    3. Louisville - opens up Kentucky for recruiting.
    4. WVA - No. Out of our region. Would add another wrestling school and has gymnastics program.

All four open new territory. I'm inclined to agree with Ohio as a good place for expansion. Huge market, lots of kids, they'll be easy to beat and Fennelly does have a history.

Their women's program is just as bad - very rough, just as physical as aTm. Saw them in person when we played them in the Virgin Islands, they basically beat us to death.

Yes, last BYU meltdown was 2002, lost 75-69 in 2nd round at Hilton. There was a questionable moving screen call against Angie Welle at the end of the game, and BYU couldn't miss that night from long range.

TCU, BYU and Louisville are the best of the bunch, Cincy is on probation for two years, and they bring nothing to the table. WVU is a good program, but from a logistics standpoint doesn't make sense.

Don't forget that bringing in these schools to the conference increases their income significantly. It also increases their profile for recruits. If they don't have the coaching, they can afford a better coach. They have every opportunity to get better.

like the idea of adding Louisville/WV quite honestly. A lot of really really good girl basketball players in that neck of the woods, pun intended.
