BASKETBALL RECRUITING: Hoiberg/Otzelberger watch 2012 PG

Hearing that Iowa State head coach Fred Hoiberg and associate head coach T.J. Otzelberger watched Nazareth Long yesterday. I've seen rumblings around the web that an offer was made, but haven't been able to confirm this.

Long would be a member of the 2012 recruiting class and I'm hearing could join the team at semester.

If you read my Cyclone Roundup on Tuesday, you saw that I was hesitant that Iowa State was truly still in the mix for Negus Webster-Chan. It sounds to me like Iowa State had a good chance to land Webster-Chan, but felt the need to go the point guard route instead. Add all that together and a Nazareth Long offer would make sense.

I'll talk more about this tonight on the CycloneFanatic.com Call-In Show's Adam Gray Insurance Insider segment.

    Here's a YouTube video.

Wowzers what a curveball but I couldn't agree more that a PG is of higher importance.

Only if they play "Hair of the Dog" when Nazareth Long is introduced during starting lineups. From what i have been told he is a very solid point guard. Not a program changer but he would be a good get for ISU.

Nobody but HB knows for sure. You pretty much know nothing....like Knownothing would like to say.

Re: BASKETBALL RECRUITING: Hoiberg/Otzelberger watch 2012 PG

Alex Kline has confirmed that we did offer Naz Long yesterday after our visit with him. Most likely not a good sign in that NWC will likely choose Missouri, but that we are also looking for an.addition to our 2012 class.

Possible Fred already knew NWC was a Mizzou commit?

So being a fan of Sledge I don't like this news. Are people giving up Sledge already?

Because we have told UNC and Duke that this is not the PG they are looking for. Let him pass.

    OR

I could go the whole Fringe approach and say he is from another dimension. By the way, if you aren't watching Fringe, you are missing out.

    That is all.

I think a lot of the canadians are slower to be added - possibly because of less exposure.

Re: BASKETBALL RECRUITING: Hoiberg/Otzelberger watch 2012 PG

Im predicting that one already comitted recruit, maybe Okoro, will not be coming to ISU next year.
