Looong - just pipe dream on conference

ok, u might make fun, u might think we cant, but im bored today and wanted to see ur guys thoughts on this..remember, long

    Div1
    ND
    Air Force
    Army
    Navy
    ISU
    Kansas
    Oklahoma

    Div 2
    OSU
    K St
    Texas
    Tex tech
    Baylor
    West Virg
    Louisville

Play all six in ur division and 2 'rivals' from other (same every year)

    Pros
    NATIONAL conference
Huge TV sets by alumni and service people
ND gets to play close to their current schedule plus 4 non con (USC<BC<MICHIGAN<?)
ND could lose all four non-con and still have shot at a BCS
Big boys would have more Ws (ideally)
    conference championship
current bottom teams would have more Ws (ideally)
    get 4 non con games
SEE HOW CONGRESS WOULD RESPOND IF BIG BOYS TRIED TO BREAK UP CONFERENCE WITH THE ACADEMIES

    cons
im sure ther is plenty, but main one i might see is people would think there are lower quality teams, and there are, but lets see the media bash the academies

    HUGE TV ts
    more Ws for ISU (maybe)
    SECURITY

now dont bash me , buwould love ur thoughts

Significantly weaker football conference, but BBall would be fun.

Re: Looong - just pipe dream on conference

Here is a thought for how to move forward with the Big 12 conference it has changed a little since MU is most likely leaving. I first heard this idea from Mitch Holtus the voice of the Chiefs. First the Big 12 needs to get back to 12 teams for football. Bring in Louisville, BYU, West Virginia, and TCU. You also open up the conference to allow Notre Dame’s non-football sports to play in the big 12 and then you bring in a school that doesn’t have a football program to balance out the conference like Marquette, DePaul, or Creighton so the Big 12 gets to a 14 team league for all other sports.

Notre Dame would end up signing a 4 game deal with the Big 12 in football that they would play 4 teams from the big 12 every year. It would be on a 2 year rotation so they would end up playing every team in the conference over a six year span. Notre Dame would have their home games at their stadium and then their road games would be at Jerry’s world and Arrowhead. This would leave their schedule open to still play USC, MU, MSU, Navy and their other normal rivals. It would get them what they want about getting into Texas.

This will get the Big 12 on more of a national stage with having Notre Dame associated with them. It will give ISU the opportunity to play them twice every six years. Notre Dame will begin to develop a relationship with big 12 teams that could lead to them joining in football down the road it is a great way to get the foot in the door. Just having ND associated with the Big 12 will stabilize it.

    Division 1
    ISU
    KSU
    KU
    OU
    OSU
    BYU
Marquette – Basketball only (Or Creighton or DePaul)

    Division 2
    WVU
    Louisville
    TCU
    Texas
    Baylor
    TT
    Notre Dame – Basketball only

I like that idea, but who would they play in the Big XII? Most likely want to schedule to play either Oklahoma and Texas but not both in a given season. A game in Jerry World would be a good way to ensure a game in Texas every year on a grand stage.

They would end up playing 4 Big 12 teams 2 from each division every year 2 games at home and 2 away. There would be a game at Jerry's world every year and a game at Arrowhead every year.

If they wanted a marquee game every year then you could make it they play OU and Texas every year then rotate the other 5 teams from each division and each team would end up playing ND twice every 10 years.
