    Injury Updates - Football

Couldn't see this posted anywhere on here so I thought I would start a thread about it.

Just got some info on the players injured against Texas.

Brayden Burris - Broke his fibula and is by all accounts done for the year.

LJ - Suffered from a pinched nerve and a concussion, should be good to go for the Baylor game if the doctors clear him.

SJ - Had another spinal cord concussion. Apparently something he has been dealing with for a while. Should be good to go for Baylor.

If he has a chronic problem of going numb when he takes a big hit, does that explain the fumbles?

I'm thinking they may have meant to say a spinal cord contusion, basically a bruise of the tissue. Such an injury could explain the numbness he experiences with bigger hits. This is because nerve tissue is one of the slowest healing tissues in the body, so any injury sustained by the brain or spinal cord, even when minimal, takes much longer than say muscle tissue. Since the spinal cord, and assumed other nerves involved (more than likely the bracial plexus due to him having a "stinger") have already been injured before, they are more apt to being easily aggravated. Really can be a teeter-totter situation, can easily improve but can just as easily worsen. Best thing to do is let the training and medical staff work with him as much as they can, they'll make the right call as far as getting him back into game shape.

That's what happens when you headbutt someone.

Rhoads press conference today - Brayden Burris out six weeks (not sure if that means he could be back for OSU or Oklahoma), everyone else will be good to play against Baylor.
