Who has the better future? ISU vs. Iowa Basketball

Who do you think has the better future? ISU or Iowa. I know Iowa has a good 2012 recruiting class, but do they have the better future?

With Fred, we not only dominate the State of Iowa, but we're back in the hunt for Big 12 titles.

Iowa has an average recruiting class for 2012, not as good as ISUs for sure. ISU has the brighter future this year and beyond.

ISU by a long shot. i think fred will take us back to where we were in the late 90s early 2000s where we expected to win b12 tournies and make deep runs in the ncaa tournament

With the coaches both programs have and the recruiting they are both doing I say both futures are pretty darn bright. I think the same is true of the football programs

Next to impossible to tell at this point. Both schools appear to be recruiting well right now. Only time will tell. That said, I'm a big fan of ISU's '12 class right now. Add NWC and I really like ISU's class and would consider it top 25 in the country.

Re: Who has the better future? ISU vs. Iowa Basketball

I'd say ISU. Assuming we have two big season in 2011 and 2012 like most of us are expecting, we don't have to worry about Fred leaving for another job.

If Fran has similar success, I think there's a real chance he'd be gone. On the flip side, it's going to be hard for Hawk fans to watch ISU be legit the next two seasons and most likely beat the ever living **** out of them on the court - so there will be some pressure on Fran to produce sooner and he could get canned in 3 years if they are terrible this year (they will be) and next year.

No idea. Iowa is looking up on a recruit standpoint.

Only difference I see: If ISU does well, we keep our coach. If Iowa does well, I could see thier coach leaving.

You people are crazy. Don't you read the UI student newspaper? They said it's safe to assume FM will have a better career at UI than FH at ISU. SAFE TO ASSUME. They offered zero evidence to back up that statement, but they said it so it must be true.

Re: Who has the better future? ISU vs. Iowa Basketball

I'm thinking Freddie will be a guy that can walk into any living room and get some serious consideration from the player and his parents. I don't get that same vibe from McCaffrey (sp?).
I think both programs will be MUCH improved over the next few years, and the ISU/Iowa bball game will once again be important. Iowa has done a good job of landing some great players, but IMO ISU is deeper and I don't see Fred's recruiting getting any worse. I think ISU will be a consistent top 25 team and compete for conference crowns. I'm not sure Iowa is quite on the same path, but will be a very solid program in the near future.

Re: Who has the better future? ISU vs. Iowa Basketball

I think when it's all said and done (when Okoro gets ranked, by Rivals) our 2012 class will be as good as (& I think better) than Iowa's

With that said, I also think McCaffrey is a very good coach and Iowa will be a team to be reckoned with in the near future.

I have Cardinal-colored glasses and really believe Iowa State is on the verge of national proimence again. I also think Iowa will be much better in a few years. Hopefully the series stays as competitive as it's been the last few years, but because both teams are very good, not both teams being very mediocre.

No way will they fire him if this year and next year are not good. He inherited a dumpster fire and just managed to put together a top 25 class. They'll at least give him til they're Jrs to see how he's doing.

Good point about him leaving earlier on his own, I think that would be hilarious.

Just curious? Why do you feel this way? Iowa has shown it is more than willing to pay its coaches the going rate to keep them happy. Does Fran have connections to a school that would draw him somewhere? He seems like the type of guy that would be very comfortable in the midwest and enjoy living here. I don't follow Iowa much at all...just wondering what makes him a candidate to jump to another job?
