    Why Louisville?

I keep hearing a ton of members on CF that want the B12 to go after Louisville. I ask why? Is it purely for a basketball standpoint?

I can think of some other options besides Louisville that would be better. ESPECIALLY since Neinas said he wants to keep it geographically sound.

    In no particular order

    TCU
    Houston
    Arkansas
    Utah State

    Re: Why Louisville?

Houston and Utah State?!?!?! Louisville is in a BCS conference and has BCS facilities and BCS programs. If the Big 12 adds either of those schools the entire country would laugh at us and we would deserve to be relegated to a lower tier conference. What are you thinking?

    Re: Why Louisville?

    1) Because they are not in Texas.

    2) Arkansas will not leave the SEC.

    3) Houston/Utah State???

I wouldn't mind getting TCU, however.

    Re: Why Louisville?

Louisville offers a new market, is geographically close to other Big 12 schools, it is not a school in Texas, already a BCS team (BCS caliber stadium, BCS money) Do I need to name any more?

Pretty much all things that Neinas said the XII is looking for in a conference addition.

Arkansas - never going to happen
Utah State - they're a WAC team, are you serious?

Houston is a very top notch school with well over $500million in endowment. ($1 Billion budget). Their stadium would need to be expanded but that is it. They also have 10k more students than ISU

Utah State is quite a bit of a stretch but if we added BYU like some say we did then it isn't out of the question.

    Re: Why Louisville?

UL is very solid across their entire sports profile and is geographically close to the Big 12's schools. They are also in a top media market. But they have a small fan base, really only bigger than Baylor, if they were to become a member . WVU's fan base would be our 5th biggest, if they were to join. Notre Dame's fan base is even bigger than UT, they are the ultimate prize becaue they bring the most eyes.

They at least have a nice stadium and a national following, among other things.

Louisville is not geographically good IMO. The closest school to them is Missouri

Utah St? That is the most ridiculous idea yet. Houston doesn't add a new tv market and just elevates another Texas team to BCS status.

And Utah St. sits nicely in between Kansas and Missouri.

It would be a companion with BYU...
