    Unsung Heroes

I really think there are some people stepping up this season that haven't been spoken about a whole lot.

Jesse Smith - former walk on, 3rd on the team in tackles, really stepping up in the place of McKenzie. Needed him to produce this year and he's been solid.

James Smith - Leading the team in tackles, seemingly everywhere on every play, has a forced fumble, 2 TFL, an INT... really getting it done. Showing that we didn't see the real James Smith last year coming off of his injury.

RJ Sumrall - Guy is leading the team in receptions and yardage, and has been nothing but very solid. Seems to catch everything thrown at him.

Marquis Hamilton - Doesn't his emergence make you feel good about the receiving corp for next season too? The guy has been great. Chizik said that he was knocked out of the game on Saturday, went to the hospital, and was back on the sideline in the 4th quarter. Just a warrior out there. Best blocking WR by far in my opinion.

Very proud of the kids on the field last week, and there are a lot of other unsung guys... but these guys are real leaders on the team as far as production goes. They are just getting it done.

def o line.. the fact that iowa never came close to blockin any fg's is a good thing along with not allowin alot of pressure so far this year

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

What about a third string guy like Chris Brown making some huge tackles on third down in the Iowa game when the Hawks were moving. That's the type of plays we need from guys off the bench when their name is called!!

No doubt, Brown was definitly one. I feel like JJ Bass's performance was underrated as well - The guy really slogged out some tough yards and hardly took a loss other than the near trip.
