Ferentz to Chiefs talk heating up again

As a Chiefs' fan, I was kind of hoping this would happen in the past. I thought he'd be a pretty good NFL head coach. He was mentioned after both Vermeil and Herm left. Now, I'm thinking he'd be in over his head. He seems to suffer from the same thing as Vermeil... too much loyalty to his coaches and players and too stubborn to adapt to new styles.

Vermeil shows more emotion in one quarter of football than Ferentz has shown in his entire career.

When Ferentz runs out of his own kids make the starting center, he'll be out of Iowa City like **** through a goose.

KFC agent is hot pushing his client. Need another pay raise.

Seriously, Todd "I am Screwed" Haley will be fired soon. So they will be getting someone new.

I like having him at Iowa. ISU is 7-6 versus Iowa under his leadership.

Exactly. A few more years of CPR vs. Mr Personality and I think ISU will swing the state to a Cyclone state for the top recruits outside of the born and bred hawk fans.

It's silly to leave U of I, 4 mil a year for as long as he wants unless the wheels fall off vs. 5+ mil for maybe 4 years.

Re: Ferentz to Chiefs talk heating up again

Once his kids are done, he is probably gone.

And Iowa is no different than any other college team in that they are one bad coaching hire away from 1-11. It happens to everyone and Iowa is due for some crap seasons.

Re: Ferentz to Chiefs talk heating up again

I can picture the threads on HN now...

    "We're Doomed!"
    "We Didn't Need KF Anyway!"
    "Urban Meyer to Iowa?"
    "End the Series with ISU!"

Ok that last one is always on their main board anyway so it's not really a stretch.

This. I don't understand why anyone thinks that Ferentz will ever leave Iowa on is own doing. He's one of the highest paid coaches in the country and all he has to do is win 8+ games every few years. There's no pressure for him to win a National Championship as long as he reaches a BCS bowl every once in a while. He runs the place over there and no matter what happens to/with his team, he's a teflon don and nothing sticks.

The guys got the cushiest job in college sports today.

I have a feeling Ferentz is an emotional guy but very guarded about when and where he shows it. He is very highly thought of by NFL people who know what they want in a coach. I think if he really wants to be a head coach in the NFL he will get the opportunity at some point.
