Big 12 expansion list: Andy Katz

    Resent tweets:

The original Big 12 expansion list once Texas A&M announced going to SEC was Arkansas, BYU, Pitt, Louisville, West Virginia. Ark/Pitt out.

Of course that's the Big 12's list. Never a guarantee that BYU would say yes then, now, or in the future. Lou/WVU? Tough call.

I think Louisville and WVU would be more than fine additions. They look fantastic in our league on NCAA Football 12 anyway

    Not sure that is accurate.

B12 Expansion targets have always been:

BYU (but only as a full member - might take a few years)
    TCU - still in transition.
    Cincinnati
    Louisville

Outside shots: Tulsa, Houston, others (maybe even Troy?) to make a conference make sense geographically and academically. There is wild speculation out there but if our leaders make sense - they will do the right thing or mess it all up.

I am very sure your list is NOT accurate. UT will never allow TCU or Houston. Tulsa makes no sense. Who is Troy again? Do they play football? In case you don't realize it the reason our country is in such sad shape is because our leaders do NOT make sensable decisions. They make decisions to line their own pockets and screw everybody else - be it business, politics, the courts, or even the church. This whole thing is about money (TV) and everything else including academics is of secondary concern or not even on the list. Its ugly and doesn't make sense but it is what is is. Read the huge A&M/Expansion thread and maybe you'll figure out what's really going on.

Louisville, West Virginia, and if Arkansas really isn't interested, Kentucky.

    Doubtful that Kentucky leaves SEC.

My preferences are Louisville, WVU, and possibly BYU or USF. Last recourse would be Cincinatti.

Re: Big 12 expansion list: Andy Katz

My suggestion is that the Big XII gets its act together before even thinking about this topic. What is our pitch? "Come join a conference that has been non-stop threats and posturing for the past 18 months."?

We need to be on better footing in order to attract top candidates. Who in their right mind would join the Big XI right now?

Any team that wants to double or triple their current revenue.

Fixed it for you because no BCS school will double or triple their revenue by leaving for the Big 12. A Big East school might make more but they won't double their revenue.

Really enjoy how message board posters feel that they know more than media members actually talking to people involved in the situation.

It has been said by multiple people in the Big 12 over the last week, no Texas schools will be considered in the expansion. Katz list is accurate.

Re: Big 12 expansion list: Andy Katz

I really don't understand what BYU has to lose by joining the Big XII. They are independent. If they join the conference and it folds a few years later, they're in the same boat, just now considered an AQ school.

...And the home of the CHIEFS!!!

    Says who?

I'd say DMACC has an equal chance as Troy State.

The Big East is the only BCS conference that the Big XII could even hope to poach from. Nobody is going the leave the SEC, Big 10, or Pac-12 for the Big XII right now. Nobody. Even getting any ACC teams is very, very unlikely.
