Geoffroy Named Chair of Stability Committee

I haven't seen this anywhere, but thought it would be of value to CF'ers. SIAP

I was just in a group that was addressed by President Geoffroy and he spoke regarding the Big 12 Conference and its future. He said that Brady Deaton, chair of the Big 12 Board of Directors, had named him the chair of the special committee tasked with ensuring and maintaining the stability of the Big 12 Conference. The committee includes 3 other members other than the chair, Pres. Geoffroy, which are the presidents of the University of Texas, the University of Oklahoma, and the University of Kansas.

President Geoffroy sounded much more optimistic about the future of the conference than the last time I had the opportunity to hear him speak about it (a week ago - which was prior to the Pac-12's announcement of not expanding). He mentioned that Missouri has "some issues they need to sort out" but is very confident about their continued membership in the conference and the conference's strength going forward.

Thought I would share this information as it's pretty cool GG, and by connection ISU, is leading this committee.

Put this in the thread monster ASAP. It is way better than the current topics being discussed, and can help satiate those still looking for reasons to panic.

Fantastic! GG is such an asset to Iowa State as a whole and athletically. Boy are we going to miss him.

He's staying here -- just not as president. But I understand what you're saying.

This is interesting. This should be a good thing. It gives a direct channel between the B12 schools and the 3 who have (or going to have) vested interest in networks. I hope this is a bridge towards stability.

Re: Geoffroy Named Chair of Stability Committee

Nobody from Missouri is on the committee to ensure and maintain the stability of the Big XII?

    Seems ominous.

GG is highly respected by his peers in the B12. He has a strong relationship with the chancellor at KU. He is currently the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Also, JP is the chair of the Athletic Directors right now - we have the right people in major positions.
