    Catching Hell

    Looking forward to watching this....kinda.

Steve Bartman, Bill Buckner subject of ESPN's "Catching Hell" - Page 2 - ESPN

I remember where I was when I was watching this on tv, it's one of those sort of moments in my life.

As a cubs fan, its gona be weird. It'll be weird to hear ronnie and pat in the booth. I hate that moment so much because even if it wasnt Steve's fault, that moment was the turning point of the entire franchise.

    Re: Catching Hell

I set this up to record on the dvr...really looking forward to it. I cannot believe how Bartman was treated, even though it was the team that booted the game/series. As for it being the turning point, it was just a foul ball with one out...the players (and fans) let that foul ball get in their heads.

    Re: Catching Hell

I was more upset with the shortstop, who hit like .210 that year, booting a ball then I was the Bartman issue. The whole thing is weird.

I'm a Brewer's fan and I was upset the Cubs blew that series.

    Re: Catching Hell

I remember watching this too and as a Cubs fan the whole downfall of the end of that game and the game after that was almost too much to bare. So close, 5 outs, but so far away.

This wasn't Bartman's fault at all, the Cubs blew the final outs of that game and the next game themselves.

I will be watching Catching Hell too, but it will be weird. I am sure I will think back to sitting on my couch on those nights watching the dream of finally getting to a World Series after so long for the Cubs slip away.

When you are a pathetic franchise like the Cubs, it does not take much to get into your head. They are a self fulfilling prophecy.

That poor guy. You could see the anguish on his face after he realized what he did. I can't blame him, it's a natural reaction.

I will be watching this too with great interest. Nice to have the luxury of not being a cubs fan so I can enjoy this one.

It wasn't the turning point. Alex Gonzalez? had the chance to end the inning on a 6-4-3 double play and blew it.

I'll be glued to the tv for this one. Been waiting for it since the very first 30 for 30. I'd love to see what his life is like now.

From what I've read, this doc doesn't really focus on Bartman, but rather the reaction to the incident and the need to find a scapegoat.

Seriously, unless you are a pre-2004 Boston fan, you just wouldn't understand. In truth, the billy goat has nothing to do with the curse. The curse is knowing that it's going to end badly and every few years it's going to end brutally.
