If they do the same routine every week....I can see why they would be so good.

They do occassionally. In '06 we sent a pep band to Nebraska. In either '07 or '08 the full band went and played at KU. Pretty sure the full band went to the KSU games at Arrowhead the last two years as well. I'm sure they'd love to go do more as well, it's just damn expensive. Beyond travel and lodging costs you're also looking at buying 400 or so seats for a full band.

I wonder if Texas is actually bringing the full band or just a pep band.

I'm told TX is bringing a pep band. Just what I'm hearing not 100%.

Better question are they bringing their pom squad, and will they wear the chaps?

That would make the most sense. Even for Texas the logistics and cost of bringing a full marching band up for a mid-season game in Ames, IA are probably a bit much.

They went down to Arrowhead the two years we played Kansas State, and went to Lawrence the year before that. We also sent a pep band to Nebraska in 2007.

The biggest problem is expense. Between the charter buses, trucks, meals, etc, it costs a lot of money to send the band anywhere. The music department doesn't have that kind of money, and neither does the Athletics dept.

Although I'm sure if anyone wanted to make a kind donation for that purpose, that they would send them out.

The majesty of college football is incomplete without the Longhorn Band.

Re: Is Texas bringing their band?

Yeah, I knew the band went to Arrowhead (neutral site).

Looks like they've been at some road games I've attended (Nebraska 07) and I just didn't catch it. Lots of Steel Reserve that day.

I loathe this song with every fiber of my being. It is the only song their band ever plays, and they play it all the time.

    Very much agreed.

And yes, i wish the band could afford to travel more. Other than bowl games and @iowa, i dont think we traveled at all while i was in the band. Members the last few years have been fairly lucky in that regard
