Rhoads 7th winning-est football coach at ISU

Only the seventh winningest coach in ISU history, but arguably the most winning coach in the modern era.
Where do you mark the modern era? Some would certainly say that Clyde Williams was in the modern era of football, but certainly football has taken another step forward since then. And the players in the war years would argue that though they were gratified by the wins, other teams were certainly not at full strength.

    Here's the list:
    1. A.W.Ristine 36 of 47 and 1 tie 0.777 in 1902-1906
    2. Ira C. Brownlie 1 of 2 and 1 tie for 0.750 in 1892
    3. Bert German 22 of 32 for 0.688 in 1894-1898
    4. Clyde Williams 32 of 49 for 0.673 in 1907-1912
    5. Charles Mayser 21 of 34 for 0.647 in 1915-1919**
    6. Joe Meyers 5 of 10 and 1 tie for 0.550 in 1899
    7. Paul Rhoads 15 of 28 for 0.535 in 2009 through current
    8. Homer C. Hubbard 8 of 15 for 0.533 in 1913-1914
    9. Earle Bruce 36 of 68 for 0.529 in 1973-1978
    10. A.M. "Mike" Michalske 18 of 38 and 3 ties for 0.513 in 1942-1946**

    ** = World War Years

for the record, Johnny Majors is 17th and Gene Chizik is third from last of 31 coaches (with the other two having NO wins).

I was looking at the overall # of wins and saw Rhoads is currently 15th.

Once he gets to 29 wins he will be at #6 on the wins list...ETA: end of 2013

    43 wins would put him in 2nd place...ETA: end of 2015/beginning 2016

and 57 wins would push him over McCarney...ETA: 2018

And for how many of those years did 'Pop' Warner come in and 'assistant coach' until the season started?

15 of 28 places him at #7 (that includes the 3 wins out of three games this season). #15 may be where he started when the season began.

meh, beating the omaha YWCA is always a good time, but I wouldn't claim it.

I see the DSM Y on the schedule TWICE in 1896. No Omaha.

    OH! Perhaps you mean Nebraska.
