Baylor QB Griffin's numbers are ridiculous

    70-82
    982 yards
    13 TD's
    0 Int's

He has more TD's than incompletions and put up 21-27 for 359 and 5 TD's against TCU. They play KSU this weekend before we travel there in two weeks. Really curious to see how our defense fares.

We cannot, should not and will not look past Texas this weekend. Baylor has a poor defense. However, I agree. Baylor's offense will win them the Big XII league.

I hope he's unable to find their stadium the day we travel down there.

Let's see how he does when a defense worth a crap is playing against him. TCU hung with them but had a bunch of new guys on D.

Yes, he is a stud but numbers are inflated IMO.

Re: Baylor QB Griffin's numbers are ridiculous

We'll learn a lot about Baylor after the KSU game.

They won a shootout in a game with basically no defense vs TCU.

They hammered a FCS schools in SFA (for reference, SFA lost to UNI 34-23 in Week 2)

And they won another shootout against a C-USA opponent in Rice (their defense still allowed Rice to score 31 points).

Baylor has one of the best offenses in the country right now, but if it stumbles just a bit they are going to have a hard time making up the points their D will give up.

I agree. KSU-Baylor this week will be very interesting to watch.

I expect this will be Griffin's worst performance of the year (stat-wise) by far. But given the stats he's put up this year, he could do that and still have a great game.

RG3 has been very impressive with his arm this year. He is going to have a bad game sometime, I just hope it is the week the Clones come to town.

I could see us on 3rd downs especially rushing two, using two spies on Griffin and dropping seven into coverage.

Agreed. Other than KU, RG3 is going to be facing better defenses (much better in some cases) from here on out and their suspect defense is going to be facing much better offenses. Their production up to this point is unsustainable.

The defense has some issues and, IMO...shutting down RG3 shuts down the rest of the team. Somebody on our D has to be keyed into him all game long.

Re: Baylor QB Griffin's numbers are ridiculous

Obviously RG's numbers have been great but he hasn't really been tested to make decisions. Against TCU almost all of his yards came from 1 route. He throws a great deep ball, mainly because his WRs get isolated due to people having to respect his running ability. IMO the key to slowing him down, is getting pressure and making him uncomfortable. He has yet to be challenged to make decisions, we'll find out more about him when he plays someone who can get after him a bit.

Would love to see Jake Knott as our spy... the way he pursued, and finished plays against the UCONN RB was very impressive. Even with a stiff arm to Jake he still forced the RB out of bounds for little gain. I look for him to try and keep RGIII in check as I dont think we have the ability to shut him down, but rather limit the options at his disposal.

you know RGIII is one of the fastest guys in the country, not just football. don't know if any LB can be a spy on him.

This. I'd rather see Broomfield/Morgan as the spy. Enough size to knock him around a little bit, and better speed than the rest of our backers.

RGIII is really fast, straight ahead. He's not overly quick though, so as long as you don't give him a ton of daylight, he shouldn't kill you with his feet as he looks to pass a lot more than most mobile QB's do.
