    Portland, Oregon -- Saturday only

We are in Portland this weekend, flying home Sunday morning. Looking for top three suggestions of what to see, where to go, what/where to sample in glasses and on plates. TIA.

My wife and I enjoyed the Grotto.. and we are not religious.

Also short little drive to Multnomath falls was cool

I dont know the area we ate and had drinks at but it was around the triple A ballpark if that helps... It was neat to walk around and drink.. we ate at a cool burger place.. but there are tons of places to eat... also try moonstruck chocolate!!!

Dinner (on the higher $ side):
    1. Jake's Famous Crawfish
    2. Ringside Downtown (off Burnside)

Portland has many microbrews; picking just one is impossible and many have more than one location (and menu). Here are a few in no specific order:
    1. Widmer Brothers Brewing
    2. Bridgeport
    3. Hopworks
    4. McMenamins' Edgefield Brewing (actually there is a McMenamins in almost every part of Portland)

    Sites to see:
    1. Just walking around the city is pretty cool
    2. Pittock Mansion seems popular
    3. Drive up to Mt. Hood to Timberline lodge is about an hour and a half each way. About the same distance to Seaside on the Pacific Ocean.
    4. OMSI is a nice science museum (has the 'Hunter for October' sub moored to it).
    5. McMinnville has the Spruce Goose and other airplanes at the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum
    6. My son's eight grade football team plays tonight

Hope that helps ... enjoy your trip to Portland.

I'll 2nd McMenamins' Edgefield Brewing. Last time I was there, there was only a couple of places, but I guess now there is a bunch. Still McMenamins' is cool and interesting. I guess they have a bar that used to be a school that is unique.

    Voodoo Doughnut!

I second Hopworks...interesting building and good beer. The Widmer pub is good too.

    Multnomah falls

The Bonneville dam on the Columbia River is just up the road frm Multnomah that has a huge underwater view of the fish ladders with all the salmon.

The wine country in Willamette valley is cool if you're into that.

In general, the drive along the Columbia river is impressive.
