    Undefeated at home

I was just thinking, alot of people seem to think we have a decent chance against Texas at home. If we can continue to get 50K+ in the Jack, and pick up some momentum with a road win or two, what do people think our chances are of being undefeated at home? I know a$m and OSU are two of the best 3 teams on the schedule, just flying with my head in the clouds now that I can slow down on reading the monster thread.

    Re: Undefeated at home

Very slim. Last time we beat 3 ranked teams at home in a season? Hell, last time we beat 3 ranked teams in a season period, especially when at least one will probably be a top 10 team (A&M)?

    Re: Undefeated at home

Last time ISU was undefeated at home was 1936 (3-0). In 2002 ISU was 5-1 (lone loss to UConn).

1973 (2-4 vs ranked), 1976 (2-2 vs ranked), and 2005 (2-1 vs ranked) are the only times that ISU has beaten more than 1 ranked team in a season.

Let's make that even clearer. Home wins are by 1 point and in overtime. Margins don't get much narrower than that.

I don't see this team as they are playing now beating that OSU team. They are scary good. I would love to be wrong about that by the end of the season.

No, I know, I didn't really get this across in my original post, I don't think it will happen. It just seems like we are gaining alot of momentum in general as a program and thought I would see if other posters had the thought cross their minds.

Undefeated at home may be a stretch, but I see no reason why we can't make JTS a VERY difficult place to play for opposing teams. CPR is changing the culture here, and he has had surprise wins in both seasons so far. I would not be surprised if we lost to both OSU and aTm at home..but I will not be shocked if we beat them both either.

I am very pleased with starting 3-0, but you're still way in over your head if you think we have a good shot of beating BOTH A&M and OSU. I could see picking off one of them if the stars line up right, but we'd have to be very lucky that day.

    Re: Undefeated at home

We need to win 2 of 4 remaining home games. 3 of 4 would mean this team really put it together and got better and better each week - lots of room to improve like win some turnover battles and cut the penalties in half.

    Re: Undefeated at home

I think there's a better chance we go winless in conference than we do going undefeated at home. We've gotten LUCKY so far, we're 3 plays away from being 0-3 right now, against 3 unranked teams and people are even considering the idea we could beat 2 top 10 teams?

This is why I absolutely love Wally and the D. Turnovers in bunches, mistakes, stupid penalties, but every single time ISU has had their back up against the wall this season the D has come out swinging and made something happen (forced a turnover, got a stop, forced a long fg, etc....)

    1. How many times did Iowa have great field position and some offensive success only to have the D hold them to a FG?

    2. The ISU offense turned the ball over 3 times inside their own 50 against UCONN in the first quarter and UCONN had only 3 points to show for it.

Our offense has shown signs of how good it can be and yes it has shown how mistake prone it can be too. The one thing that makes me feel better about it is that the offense should continue to improve as guys adjust more to being starters. New QB, first time starters at RB, etc.... and more importantly our D has shown the incredible ability to ERASE any mistakes the offense makes. That is huge!
