Texas says they're open to new revenue-sharing model

Looks like the OU threats have worked?

Not so much the threats. Texas now realizes they have no where to go.

I expect not only equal sharing but also Beebe to be out soon as well.

That would be awesome. Now, back to your regularly scheduled football discussions...

Sounds very politically safe for them at the moment. "open" means nothing until its signed.

If this happens and if the Big 12 adds three more solid schools the conference will be stronger than ever.

Starting to look like everybody has come to their senses (except A & M), and good things are starting to happen. After all the hand wringing it looks like we could come out of this better than ever with a better conference agreement and one less Texas team to recruit against down there.

Well, isn't the old saying, "That which does not kill you makes you stronger?"

I think that may really be the case here - but UT needs to cough up the crown and do revenue sharing - the only way the Big XII gets to superconference status in the future, should that eventually come to fruition, is to do revenue sharing and make this conference as stable as the B1G and the Pac-12, etc.

Re: Texas says they're open to new revenue-sharing model

Looks like Texas finally realized that they don't have any friends, and are willing to make things work.

Maybe that will mean the LHN will become more of a B12N?

I haven't gotten why the BCS conferences don't follow the BTN and create their own network, and then make them available on sports packages like ESPN currently is. Then, games could be played on CBS, NBC, Fox, and the conference networks. Everybody could watch on DTV, Dish, and local cable stations. No more ESPN and their ridiculous antics.

Sources: OU expected to propose equal revenue sharing as a key reform. That won't included sharing Longhorn Network revenyue.

BCS schools/conferences need to stop empowering ESPN. They all need their own network (conferences). Do that, and ESPN is stuck showing mostly highlights of games they couldn't air, making them do exactly what they were designed to do, IMO.
