No - I think it is pretty comon. We tried last year to get a room for a couple of home night games and they were sold out as well. Told us Ankeny was the closest with available rooms.

    Re: Ames Hotels

I imagine Parents' Weekend has something to do with it too. My dad was searching for a room the other day and couldn't find anything in Ames or Ankeny. Ended up with a hotel in Des Moines.

For Family Weekend that usually is the case.

    Re: Ames Hotels

Yeah Texas and Family Weekend=Packed weekend for Ames. My parents said they would never come down for that weekend again after freshman year, since it was very crowded.

Nevada, IA has a hotel off 30 next to Story County Medical Center. 10 min away from stadium.

Check Story City, IA also. Think it is 20 min away from stadium or Ames.

last time ISU played texas on family weekend, my grandparents had to sit through a game where we lost 56-3. Not relevant to the thread, but that sucked.

    Re: Ames Hotels

    Ames needs more hotels.

Another place to look is Ankeny which is just 20 minutes from JTS.

    Re: Ames Hotels

Yeah, everything is booked for the Texas game & it is also family weekend......no rooms in Boone, Story City, Nevada or Ankeny either.

We're in the same boat and can't find a room, but this is a very good thing for the city of Ames. Lots of $$ coming into town and that's why being in the BIG XII is important for this city and Central Iowa.
