    Re: Help Wanted

Isn't there some rule, that after a field goal the clock can only go down 3 or 4 seconds at max? I may be wrong.

    No kidding.

But, why didn't we call a timeout with three seconds left to make sure it would be the last play? Was the kick on third down? I don't remember. If it was, then I can see saving a couple extra seconds in case of a fumbled snap so there might be a second left to attempt another.

    Re: Help Wanted

Actually, the bigger question was why the heck we didn't squib the kick instead of kicking it long, which gives the returner time to view the field and make something happen!?!?!?

The kick was on 3rd down. I might have called the TO with maybe 6 sec. left to make sure i had time in case of the snap.

    Re: Help Wanted

It was 3rd, I really have the feeling that the staff and most football coaches have looked at this and that 5 seconds must be the right amount of time to optimize having enough time left to fall on the snap and call a time out in case of a bad snap and still only giving the defensive team 1 second at most so they can't do anything more than the kick off. And it was a squib kick, it was just that is landed on its side instead of end over end to slow it down and he put too much into it. In actuality it is worse than just kicking it deep because it gets there fast, and their deep men get it at about the 20-30 yard line.

    Re: Help Wanted

Instead of a squib, I was thinking we should just pooch the kickoff. Kick it high to one of the bigger guys who are supposed to be blockers, and give us plenty of time to get down there quick on him.

    who cares we won...

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

It was a squib, unfortunately insted of bouncing it slid all the way back to the back line.
