    UT's Gilbert out for season

    ChipBrownOB Chip Brown

Texas QB Garrett Gilbert will miss rest of season after having surgery to repair right (throwing) shoulder injury suffered against Rice.
Injury was against Rice. Maybe McCoy didn't beat him out of the job after all. Hope this is good news for ISU in a couple weeks.

I remember the last time a McCoy made his first appearance in Jack Trice. Yikes.

While on live TV, Ford used a vulgar term to describe a private part of the female anatomy, adding that he was “happily married” and “got more than enough to eat at home.”

McCoy looked scary good against UCLA. I'm sure he's the best QB they have

I know UCLA doesn't have a great defense, but from what I saw this weekend, another 4 years of McCoy to Shipley will not be a good thing for the rest of the Big12/Pac16.

Case has looked good in the game I watched. The team seems to respond to Case. He moves well and throws on the run. Kinda like someone we know.

If Case is succesful this year it'll be interesting to see what happens next year at QB. If Gilbert doesn't win back the job will he transfer since he was such highly touted recruit?

    UCLA sucks. Big deal McCoy.

I hope our LBs and D-Line get to him much like we did to Gilbert last year on the road. Need to hit him early and often to win this game again. Then, force some turnovers because he's thinking about getting hit again. That was a major key to winning last year.

I think this is indifferent news for us, he has not shown much to me, plus we killed him last year, the little bit that I saw of McCoy in the BYU game, was impressive, very much like his brother.....

I saw the similarities to Jantz as well. McCoy is probably not the same threat to run as Jantz, but he is really good at sensing pressure and moving around in the pocket. Hopefully their line is just as bad this year.

Who cares where Gilbert goes, that guy is one of the worst QBs I've seen. Maybe a little worse than McTrick shot at Uconn.

To bad for Gilbert. I'm shocked that he has had such a poor career. People down in Texas where saying (before he even committed to UT) that he was the best HS QB in 25 years down there. Then he had a solid 2nd half in the NC game against Bama and I thought the kid was going to be a start and even better than Colt McCoy. So far, he's been a bust which is to bad.

Our chance of winning this game just went down significantly.

I disagree. Almost impossible to quantify based on the limited experience Case has. Much like our QB (if not more so as we are comparing a freshman vs some collegiate experience), he will have some bumps along the way. If he was the second coming of Colt, why was he beat out in the first place? He has some flaws. Our defensive coaches just need to figure them out and exploit them.
