    Why the Big 10?

What are everyones reasons for wanting Iowa State to go get owned in the Big 10? Yet everyone is mad if we go to the Big East where we actually have a chance.

    Re: Why the Big 10?

    Stability and Money.

And we'd compete better in the Big 10, than the Big 12. (in both football and basketball)

You're kidding if you think we'd get 'owned' in the big 10. We'd do better there than we have against the big 12 the last 15 years.

    Re: Why the Big 10?

    1) Better football conference
    2) Better academic conference
    3) Geographically makes sense (saves money on travel, develops natural rivalries, gets more people in seats - opponents at our games and ISU fans at away games)
    4) $$$$$$

How can you say we'd get owned in the Big 10? We'd do no worse...probably better. Big 12 has 3+ teams this year that would have a very good chance to win the Big 10 (OU, OSU, A&M). And that's with Texas having a down year.

People will argue that Iowa State and Baylor are the worst programs in the Big 12 and we're on the verge of a top 25 ranking and Baylor is ranked and fresh off a win against TCU.

Nebraska will probably walk through the Big 10 this year (maybe with the exception of Wisconsin) and we're one limp-wristed throw from beating them two years in a row.

The Big 10 is not the football conference it has been in other years. If we're middle of the pack in Big 12, we're middle of the pack in in the Big 10. I'd say this year - based only on 3 games so take it with a grain of salt - that we beat Iowa, Minnesota, Northwestern, Purdue (who just lost to Rice for god's sake!), Indiana, and Illinois. Would give us a shot against Penn State. The others would be likely losses, but probably nothing like our game against OU or OSU is going to look.

Owned by the Big 10??? LOL

Have you watched that conference this year? In the past 30 years, they haven't been even close to the Big 8/12 on the FB field.

With the direction our program is headed, we would do more than hold our own in that conference.

Getting 'owned' in the B1G?!? I personally think we'd have a better chance being competitive in the B1G than in the current Big12!

    Re: Why the Big 10?

Money and stability is the only thing I understand. But I would rather be bowl eligible every year and compete for a big east title and BCS berth in the big east than be 4 or 5 wins in a stability conference and get more money.

Is this a serious question? I like knowing what I'm dealing with.

Dude that is nonsense I am sorry but last year we didnít go to a bowl game yet you think we are suddenly gonna jump from a 5 win team to a team that constantly beats Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State.

I dont think you can understate geography in the argument as well. Although it would definitely be harder to pull in the TX and FL kids.

You do realize that less money will make it harder to compete right? Hard to hold onto coaches like Paul Rhoads (who you have to think could become a very hot commodity) if we cant support him financially. There's a decent chance we go to the big east and have less exposure, less money, and just as much difficulty competing.

Ya take your pick an 8-4 BCS bound ISU team in the big east or an 4-8 stay at home watching bowl games ISU team from the Big 10. But hey the 4-8 ISU team will get more money from the other teams in a conference so we better go there.

You must be an Iowa fan because no one outside of the B10 respects the level of play they put out on the field.

This. We'd be competitive in the B1G. Minnesota, Indiana, even NW, etc.
