Halfway to Bowl Eligibility. What will be the other half?

So we're 3-0 right now and ready to head into the conference season. It has been an ugly 3-0 but it means we are in a good spot to go bowling this year even with a tough conference slate ahead of us. What do you guys think will be the other three that'll get us bowling? (Not that I think we don't have a shot at 7-5 or better, just what are our three best shots).

I think we win two of three of Kansas, K-State, and Tech. Possibly all three of them, but at least two, to bring us up to 5.

I think we win one of Texas, Missouri, and Baylor. Baylor being the least likely win. That'll give us at least 6 wins.

I don't think we have a very good chance with Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, or A&M, but you never know.

If I had to guess right now, I think a 7-5 season is the most likely possibility.

We go 13-0, winning all games by a total of 30 points.

Honestly, I've thought 7-8 wins all along, so nothing really changing here. Sweep the state of Kansas, beat Texas, see where things go from there.

It's still going to be a struggle to get to 6. I'm hoping we can finally beat K-State again after we should have beaten them the past two years running. Should be able to beat KU at home. Tech is going to be tough, but they're beatable.

Out of Texas, Mizzou and Baylor, our best shot is probably Mizzou. I still want to see more of them before I'm confident in that, though. We're not going to beat Baylor unless RG3 goes down with an injury again. Texas? Anything can happen, but I'm hesitant to say they're more beatable than Mizzou.

Re: Halfway to Bowl Eligibility. What will be the other half?

we're due to beat K-State, and if the game was in Ames, I would consider it a near lock. However, we've got to go to Manhattan, so that game is at best a toss-up. Still, the OP is correct. I think our best chance for 3 more wins comes against K-state, KU, and Tech. I think we can hang with Mizzou and Texas, as well. The others? Who knows? If we can ever put together a solid first quarter, we have a puncher's chance against anyone.

I would be very, very happy to go to a bowl this year. Anything beyond that is pure gravy, as far as I'm concerned, although part of me is still holding out small hope for a "dream season." Not saying national title or anything, but if we caught lightning in a bottle and somehow went 9-3, I would be beside myself.

Re: Halfway to Bowl Eligibility. What will be the other half?

It wont be easy, but i think any time you start out 3-0, you have to classify it as a disappointment if you dont find 3 more wins to make a bowl game. OU\TAMU\OSU are the ones that seem well out of reach, but that still leaves 6 games to pick up 3 wins.

I've been an Iowa State fan for waaaaaaayyyyyyyyy too long to think that any game is a lock. Having said that, the past three games have been tough wins, just keep 'em coming Cyclones! I love the heart and character of this team. That wins games. Period.

PS. That personal foul was crap last night, the guy wasn't even down yet when he hit him IMO.

Sure we're halfway to bowl eligibility, but only a quarter of the way to our total wins for the season

Re: Halfway to Bowl Eligibility. What will be the other half?

Out for blood against K-State! That crappy team has ticked me off these past two games. I want that one to be 56-0.

I'll be checking in on the KU game today...their offense is a little sneaky this season and they are flying under the radar. I'm also not happy that we only put up 28 against their pathetic team last year. We play away at Tech before that game (which could either be a high with a win, or an emotional road loss since it is a winnable game as far as we can see right now). I still like how our schedule matches with theirs, since they will have played K-State, at Texas, and then all the way back north to play in Ames.

I still hope to see a surprise victory this year against either Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, or Texas A$M. There are pros/cons to the way the schedules set up with all of those games. Texas A$M will need to travel to Tech, and get by Baylor's best shot before they come to Ames...and we will be coming back from Mizzou looking to let off some steam. Both Oklahoma State and Oklahoma could be caught looking ahead to their game against each other. I hope we can take advantage and tag one of those teams.

Iowa is looking really bad. That doesn't bode well for us going into the conference season, given how much trouble they gave us.

You have to put this in perspective. They just lost their Super Bowl. They have to regroup and start a whole new season now.

All we had to do is march on to another victory. We're getting used to winning big games.

There should probably be a troll smiley for my post this time.

This. We've shown this year that we have a competitive BCS conference-type team, and we might blow one team out this year if everything falls into place for us. But no games are a lock for us, not KU and certainly not KSU. Getting to 6 or 7 wins is doable but it will be a dogfight and is certainly not a lock.

Completely agree, considerig we've won 3 games by a total of a TD and 2 pt conversion. However I gotta give the coaches and team credit for playing like they "belong".Some of those plays this year (and the last couple) used to be the "could have been" plays and now they're the "do you believe it?" plays...and I think that's a good sign.

At the same time, in the Paul Rhoads era, i have a hard time calling any game, other than @OU, a lock for a loss. Other eras i'd have to include OSU and TAMU in there for sure, even though i still put those at highly unlikely.
