    UConns Defense

They were better than I thought they would be. Seemed to be the same thought Steele was having for the first quarter. Glad he settled down. This kid is a stud.

Agreed, Uconns d is legit. I don't like their 3 qb system, but they could very well win the big east again, and lets hope they do

    Re: UConns Defense

Like UNI, they have a veteran front 7 that have played a whole ton of games together. That #99 in the middle of their DL was in the backfield all night longs, he's going to play on Sundays for a long time.

I thought the OL held together pretty well considering the quality of UCONN's DL. They certainly didn't play as well as last week, but they did alright (except for the ******* false start penalties)

Yeah, like I said in another thread...that UCONN "nipple squeeze" play is tough.

    But seriously, they are legit.

Anyone know if KO came back in after he limped off? I couldn't pay attention.

When did he limp off? I'm pretty sure I saw him in at least on the second to last series.

I think the old saying is right on the money for this one, it's because they don't have one.

    Yep. Shortly after.

May my postings be polite and not misunderstood. (And hopefully funny on occasion.)

    Re: UConns Defense

I thought they were good too. Very good tacklers for the most part. Shontrelle Johnson and James White both had multiple opportunities to break off really big runs, but weren't able to, because of some really good one on one tackling.

I was also impressed with their ability to bring pressure. Lots of tackles for losses, and even though they didn't get a lot of sacks, Steele was under pressure several times. Even on the Lenz to Money TD pass, they were all up in the backfield, and had that play not gone off with precise timing, they could have dropped us for a loss, or worse.

Thankfully, it was a thing of beauty, instead.

Yep, more like what ISU will see in the Big 12 than UNI's or Iowa's. Took us some time to adjust.

    Re: UConns Defense

I think many of us knew the quality of defense we were going against. Props to the Husky defense for keeping them in the game.

That passing game needs some help. If they had somebody even as good as Jerome Tiller starting at QB, we lose that game by 10 points. Lots of points were left on the field with overthrown balls.

    Re: UConns Defense

Bad and good thing was, if UCONN had a solid offense they should of went up 21-0 in the first quarter. Our defense played great, but UCONN's offense probably could make anyones defense look good.

ok, good point, but what does that have to do with UCONN's Defense?

I guess my whole point was...Their defense is probably one of the best we will see all year..and if they had a good offense, they would possibly take the Big East again this year.

    Re: UConns Defense

Seemed like UConn had a good game plan starting out, as you never knew quite where the pressure was going to come from. I think we wore them down a bit later on, and kind of figured out the weak spots.
