Re: Who Else Can We Defeat?

I'm pretty confident we could beat Toledo, Kansas State (that close loss to Auburn is looking less impressive each week), Colorado, and Kansas.

We have a slight chance of beating Texas Tech, Texas, and Missouri.

Nebraska and Oklahoma are the only sure losses left on the schedule. I still expect the team to finish 4-8 to 5-7, but the Iowa game has shown that they're dying to improve. The next three games will say a lot about this team in regards to how far they will go.

I forgot to add Texas to my list. That's very possible from what I've seen of them, especially if we could draw a cold day.

You make a good point! I know the obvious statement everyone will make... "who know's Texas better than GC?" But hey, given the opportunity, ISU could make some noise on a pretty cold day.

Add Lincoln. They looked real sluggish with a wieny arm qb.

I watched the NU game and am watching Colorado get beat pretty good by FLA State...I think they're both beatable.

Re: Who Else Can We Defeat?

I am so pumped I am gonna be making my first away game big 12 trip to Lincoln for the ISU game!!! I think that one could be an upset if we play like we did today on defense and find a way to punch it in rather than settle for FG's.

Colorado looked terrible tonight against an average FSU team IMO. That being said, we'll still have to play well to beat them.

Re: Who Else Can We Defeat?

We'll know more after next week's game. But I think we can safely put the Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, and Texas games in the "hell no" category. Good win against Iowa, but realistically these are road games and/or games against really good teams.

    As for the rest:

at Missouri -- We did beat them at home last year, but road games are always hard. Doubtful.

Kansas State -- they pasted Missouri State by 51 points, but MSU is a Div1-AA team. Then again, so is UNI. Doubtful.

Colorado -- losing by only 10 points to Florida State is a good achievement for anyone. Winnable, maybe.

Kansas -- again, this is a road game, and we haven't done very well at all in road games at Kansas lately. They put up 52 and 62 points in their first two games against weak opponents, and beat Toledo 45-13. If we lose to Toledo, we can put this game in the doubtful category as well.

Conclusion: the Iowa victory feels really good, but we need a reality check: every conference team we play this year is better than Iowa.

Re: Who Else Can We Defeat?

    This is a hilarious thread.

It was a great win for us and we showed a lot of improvement. But I still see us as the underdog from here on out. Let's just keep improving, see what the rest of the year brings and have lots of FUN!

If we can get 150 yards rushing per game, I will count that as a win!!

Re: Who Else Can We Defeat?

USC could have ran for 500 yards against the "blackshirts". I don't think that they are very good, but ISU is going to have to improve to win at Lincoln.

But first thing is first, ISU has to win at Toledo or the win against Iowa does not mean much. ISU has to step up and validate the Iowa game by looking impressive the next few games. Hopefully this will give them the confidence they need to start a winning streak.

    GO CLONES!

Re: Who Else Can We Defeat?

The blackshirts did look way outclassed last night. I'm going to take this season one game at a time. I'll stand by my original prediction that 5-7, or 4-8 with a nice upset will make for a great season. That one upset is now in the books!

Re: Who Else Can We Defeat?

24 hours ago, we were worried we wouldn't win a game. Now we're supposed to pick FIVE more games we'll win?

We've seen us play really well against Iowa before and then fail to meet other expectations. Let's just wait and see what happens. If we're able to match last year's win total, that will be absolutely outstanding since what happened the first two weeks.
