    Favorite BIG win?

Watching the 09 ISU/NU win tonight. I loved how that team fought in that game. I'm so glad we decided to go to that game.

Which is your favorite win in the Rhoads era?

Nebraska win by far. No one expected us to win, and helped get a bowl bid.

This. It has to be Nebraska since it was CPR's first big win. We didn't know we should expect things like this at that time so it was even more shocking and exciting.

    Re: Favorite BIG win?

I really can't decide yet, but I'm seriously leaning towards Nebraska. After that win, I knew there was no way in hell the Clones weren't going to a bowl game.

Pulled off a couple more big wins in 2010 that really brought back the excitement to the season. The demoralizing defeats to Iowa and KSU really got the fanbase down in the dumps. Tech and Texas got everyone stirred up like crazy.

If the trend continues, ISU could be due for 2 more standout victories this year.

I would put the 1992 Nebraska game over every one of these.

That was a really nice win against a team better than any of the teams on this list, and it was special because of the circumstances and the fact that it was one of the few bright spots of that time period. However, it really didn't have any affect on the development of the program. Walden had pretty much quit trying by that point. These wins that Rhoads has had are bigger in the sense that it actually seems as though we're building something.

Being at the Nebraska '09 game and this year's Iowa game puts them at the top of my list....

    Re: Favorite BIG win?

This seriously has to go right up there with trying to pick a favorite son or daughter, but I had to go with last year's Texas game. We had never beaten them anywhere before, although we had come close many times. We outright owned them in their own stadium for more than 3 quarters, and while the Nebraska locker room video put Rhoads on the map, the Texas locker room gave the impression he was going to put ISU in the national spotlight or die trying.

I don't disagree with anyone choosing Nebraska, for me it was between those two games. I guess the main differences for me was a lot of things went wrong for Nebraska that day whereas ISU did a lot of things right. Another thing is we've beaten Nebraska on several occasions, and while it had been decades since we beat them in Lincoln, we had never beaten Texas anywhere. Another thing is look at the post game videos - against Nebraska Rhoads has this "stunned" demeanor about him, whereas against Texas his attitude is "get used to these wins."

Choosing between Nebraska and Texas was tough. Nebraska was a complete program changer. Texas showed that Nebraska wasn't a fluke.

I'm really disappointed that an elite national program like Iowa is getting no run in this thread.

    Re: Favorite BIG win?

I'd have to say this game. Mostly because of the timing and the way we won. Timing because of all the crap we've been taking about conference realignment and not belonging in a bcs conference, not pulling our weight ect... and all the while doing it against a Big 10 team on national tv. We needed to follow Baylor and make a statement and we did. Now it truly is just about number of TV's and not about things that should matter. If we would of got rolled it would of been even more ammunition for the idiots out there. The way we won. No excuses, no 8 turnovers, no bad calls. Any number of plays could of cost us the game but they made every one. Huge gut check game.

Then there's the added benefit of being against Iowa. Might just make living in this state bearable this year.

    Re: Favorite BIG win?

I picked Iowa, for several reasons. I got to see it from the stands. It showed us our quarterback is one heck of a talent. We needed it to pull off another bowl invite. And most importantly, it'll shut the Iowa fans up for a while.

    Re: Favorite BIG win?

That isn't to disparage what this team has done so far this year but the importance of wins has to be assessed in the context of the success of the season.

UNL is the most important hands down. Texas 10 would be right there in importance if the team had finished the season the way they did on 09.

I think if this team finishes this season with success there will be a signature conference win that will eclipse the non conference schedule in importance.
