    After rewatching the Iowa game

it makes me mad that the clones made so many mistakes to keep Iowa in the game. That game should have been a laugher, but the TOs, penalties and missed kicks really kept them in the game. SJ made their defense look silly at times, even though I think they are not really all that bad. Most of the time SJ seems to have eyes in the back of his head, knowing where to go the get out of trouble and when to take off. He is just the guy that other teams hate to play against.

I watched it again as well. I can't believe we won that game with all the mistakes we made not to mention how many 3rd and 4th downs we had to convert.

Re: After rewatching the Iowa game

The mistakes were certainly really annoying, but what has me the most excited is the fact that the team did not allow the mistakes to dictate the rest of the game. They continued to execute and make plays. The offense was extremely confident at crunch time, as they scored to tie at the end of regulation and matched Iowa blow for blow in OT until we prevailed.

Hopefully, the team continues to iron out their issues and we lay the wood on UCONN.

I don't know why anyone would want to abbreviate when you can just call him Steele. Whenever I see SJ I assume Rabbit, but am finding more and more that I am wrong.

This will be even more fun when we have two SR's playing next year because spelling out their names won't even help.

Oh my god, I agree with bawbie. Somebody shoot me!

I don't really expect or want QBRS to be playing at all next year. I guess mop up time would be acceptable.

Re: After rewatching the Iowa game

I'm glad as hell the game went the way it did. It just twists the knife deeper in HOK fans guts. A laugher and they would have shut off the tv or walked out to tailgate immediately. This way we win the game and have the stats to back it up that we were the better team. No HOK would acknowledge our superiority Saturday in any circumstance.

Re: After rewatching the Iowa game

Jantz was clearly the best player on the field. From there Iowa was really unable to win many position/unit battles.

Did Iowa win the points off turnovers battle 10-7? If so that doesn't really cut it.

ISU's WRs performed better on a man by man basis. ISU had no key drops either. ISU's big plays in the air were basically 60 and 40 yards. Iowas were a couple 30 yard plays.
    ISUs RBs matched Cokers output

While Iowa's kicking game was better, they did settle for those field goals. In the end that cost them.
Speaking of special teams, ISU's kick return game was drastically better than Iowa's. Iowa also had a kickoff go out of bounds. Lenz had a 21 yard punt return. All that probably evened out the missed field goal a little, as ISU held a field position edge over the course of the game.

So for the penalties, and turnovers, ISU whooped em up in about every other facet. Iowa caught a lot of breaks and still got outplayed.

SJ and SJ2 for Jantz. Since he's number 2

    Or SJ21

Re: After rewatching the Iowa game

The biggest thing I noticed when I watched the game again was how tired the Iowa defense was in the 4th quarter and overtime. I have not been a big proponent of our "jet tempo" or offensive plan the last two years, but I was always hoping that the right quarterback would make all the difference ... I think it has.

not sure why you'd need to rewatch the game to come up with your conclusion. ISU had double the penalty yardage, more TOs, 2 in the red zone and 2 missed FGs. They just continued to play through it and make plays.

If you switched the jerseys on the 2 teams the media would be saying Iowa was sloppy and ISU just wasn't any good, but they'd never say that about mighty Kirk's Hoks.

and I'm all out of gum.

Re: After rewatching the Iowa game

My two cents - we've basically played two sloppy games losing the turnover battle, missing field goals and lots of penalties. Still stand 2 and 0. Now what if we actually win some turnover battles, make some field goals and cut down the penalties - we could really get on a roll.
