Breach of Contract with Fox Sports?

I apologize if this has already been discussed, please provide a link if so.

Are there any clauses such as OU leaving that would break the Fox Sports contract with the conference? I have not read or heard any talk of this and it seems like that'd be a major issue. The leftovers of the conference will not be able to add anyone without that contract. Of course Texas sharing ESPN rev would help too.

If OU leaves they are taking Okie St. with them. No need to worry about the contract at that point because the conference would be done.

Then after we get their $$$, they will rebrand the conference and give it a new name.

At this point, it's unlikely that the conference disolves due to the voting math. It would take 6 votes of the current 10 members to pass any changes to the bylaws or conference rules/regulations. I think it's unlikely that 6 members would all change conferences in the next year, which would mean anyone leaving would have to payout, and that the FOX deal would continue on, but likely with some changed payouts.

What needs to happen is OU, Okie ST, and TAM need to leave. Then the remaining 7 teams should merge with the Big East + TCU. That would form the first 16 team conference. There would be an East and West division. Each team would play all the teams in their division and two teams from the other division (home and away). That's 9 games which leaves 3 non-conference games just like now. Basketball would have 24 teams in the conference. That could be broken into four 6-team divisions. Each team plays all their division teams twice (10 games) and each team in another division (6 games) for a 16 game schedule.

    That would be positively awful.

    I actually like this idea.

Agreed! In the past we've had a decent following for away games, but that's not going to happen with games from Florida to Rhode Island.
