Does any1 still think Steele got starter position by default?!?

I used to and I will admit that I don't any more. In fact I highly doubt we win the first two games with Tiller in the starting position. No disrespect against Tiller but Steele is just the best QB at ISU I have seen since Senecca!

Looking back it was easy to see why Capello(sp) transfered... I think it was coach speak all the way this fall!!

No. Because CPR said he won it outright.

After seeing him play I very highly doubt he got the position by default.

I think Capello parents and the Capello kid knew about the situation all along. I am just so happy that everyone embraced Steele so well in Ames. The kid needs a lot of support in this final two years. I wish we got his right out of high school.

I always thought he did, but I admit that I wished the announcement was cleaner, as announcing that Tiller was ineligible at the same time did cast a bit of doubt on the issue, but it's clear that Jantz won, or would have.

Re: Does any1 still think Steele got starter position by default?!?

I think he won it by a wide margin and Tiller was probably not second or a close third. If SJ practiced like he has played so far, it is no wonder Tiller got depressed and stopped going to classes. Still disappointed in Tiller. Don't think he would have played a lot, but at least he had played a D-1 game before and could have provides some backup.

Very true. The way Steele plays makes him very susceptable to injuries. I wish Tiller was standby so he could share time with Jantz.

I think coach Rhoads made a really good decision in his Q/B choice. Steele looked really good against Iowa. Good luck to him and the entire team.Go Cyclones

I actually disagree. He is very very good at avoiding contact when he needs to (falling, sliding, diving), but he can put his nose down and run hard when he needs yards. Arnaud had more of a running back mentality where he wanted to fight for every single yard all the time, which is commendable, but not quite as safe.

After UNI I had some doubt.

I think Steele made it pretty clear against Iowa.

You never know, maybe Steele isn't a great practice player and the competition was legitimately right down to the wire. Some guys play better when the lights are on. I'm still concerned about Steele going on the road for the first time.

I really REALLY hope that is the case. Steele does avoid situations where he could get hurt very easily.

No, and I never did from the start because I trust our coaches over arm chair coaches and posters on this site....
