    More Steele Jantz

Just in case you haven't seen this. Also this is for those of you who are wondering how he does the things he does. It must come naturally because apparently he has been doing this for awhile. Just change the uniforms and the stadium and it's exactly what he has done to UNI and Iowa so far.

    Re: More Steele Jantz

Good Lord, he was running for his life in almost every one of those plays. The play at the 50 second mark is eerie.... think winning TD against UNI and the Darks TD against Iowa.

i hope cyclone fans aren't putting too much pressure on this guy. we have a pretty darn good QB but we also have a pretty darn good team.

We put too much weight on seneca and he crumpled.

You can see why they wanted him to play for us...i know those are not the best defences but i think we have only begun to see what he is capable of at ISU

A QB that can hit passes whne running for his life is always a good get for ISU.

I agree. But if the recievers and O-line and defense all respond like they did on Saturday we should be in good shape. We need him to lead us but not carry the whole team on his back.

    Re: More Steele Jantz

Jantz seemed very smart in the Iowa game. He consistantly created time with his feet and made amazing passes. Very fortunate surprise. I have some high hopes for this season.

    Re: More Steele Jantz

Several times this year, it has looked like Steele was going to run out of bounds or throw the ball away and he has found an open receiver at the last minute. He is always looking for a receiver that is open and is not a run first QB, but has the ability to run if no one is open.

The thing that impressed me the most in the Iowa game was he didn't force anything...he created time with his feet but if something wasn't there he would tuck it and run or just get rid of it. He made good decisions all day which was very impressive after I thought he pressed quite a bit week one.

It's still early, but I've noticed that, too.

He seems to have no problem running it if necessary, but doesn't automatically do it even if he's in scramble mode.

Several times vs. Iowa I assumed he was going to run it (and had room to make a few yards) but stuck with the play. At least one of those ended up as a TD pass (possibly two -- one might've been the pass called back for holding). Another might've come on that thread-the-needle shot down the right sideline.

He looks fairly un-panicked, too, even getting pressure. Not prone to making ill-advised throws, yet not afraid to zing it (not playing it "too safe.")

It's helping that receivers are looking more sure-handed, too.

Again, there are many games ahead. Just seeing a few trends that are encouraging.
