    Sunsetter Retractable Awnings

Anyone have one of these? Our deck faces west and gets very hot in the afternoon. Saw that Costco has $500 off ending today. Just wondering if anyone knows anything about these. Hate to waste money on it even if its $500 off.

Sound like they have a good warranty on them too. So pry worth 500 bucks.

Also, I cannot stand the commercials for these things!

Well, I am looking at the 10 ft wide one and its normally $1,419 on Costco's website, so $919 after the discount. That's for the woven acrylic fabric. A lower cost laminated fabric is also available and about $140 less. These are motorized and come with a remote control. Manual ones are also available. And yes.. the commercials are annoying.

For $1000 and it is something you think will come in handy I'd say go for it. Just always put it away and never get it out in high winds etc.

When I lived in Texas my house had a roof build over the patio for shade. Much studier than an awning and will last a lifetime. That will probably cost $1,000 or less depending how big and elaborate you want to get.

Pay attrntion to the angle of the sun at the time of day you would be using it. Late afternoon when the sun is low (depending on time of year) you may only get 5 or 6 feet of usuable shade.

Even if you look at the commercial most of their patio furniture is still in the sun and when the dude sits down everthing below his neck is still in the sun.

Ideally, we'd like to install a 3 or 4 seasons room, but this will do for the time being. I know someone who has one and theirs seems nice. Hopefully its not too difficult to install. Supposedly its as simple as installing some mounting brackets and hanging it up on them.
