So where are those who say we need to quit playing Iowa?

Funny how a big win over the Hawks changes things...lots of posters have said we need to drop the Iowa series...said the game "does nothing for us," etc., etc., etc....care to change your opinion?

Care to change your opinion that Rhoads doesn't care about the Iowa game?

recent history shows we win this game 1/3 of the time, thankfully history does not guarantee future results...play the game, win it and watch the program prosper from it. I think they said Iowa had 10 players that were formerlly walk ons from the state yesterday, we need more of those guys coming our way...not all of your scholarship recruits will work out, good to have guys that want to play pushing them too...

In Eastern Iowa? It seems that most of the smoke about quitting this rivalry comes from their fans after a defeat.

I think besides the fact that Iowa is our biggest rival, we need this game now more than ever to stay relevant with the birth of the Nebby Iowa rivalry.

Never said that. Don't make stuff up.
The win yesterday was a bigger win for CPR than any Big 12 win would be, except for maybe beating Oklahoma.

Debatable. I would consider the victory over Nebraska in 2009 bigger than Iowa 2011 victory.

I think this is a stretch, beating Texas or A&M or Oklahoma State or Oklahoma or Missouri or a bowl game would all rank higher for me this year, the 3 OT'S was dramatic though and exciting to come out on top!

as long as you can stop whining about McCarney and his wins over Iowa now.

at 2 games above 500....CPR is pretty much eclipsing your overlord.

Re: So where are those who say we need to quit playing Iowa?

Still for dropping it. Why would this win change that opinion? And this win is nowhere near what a win over UT, OU, A$M, Ok State or probably even MU would be.

The only reason not to drop it is the $ from ticket sales...which could be off-set long-term by the benefits from freedom in non-conference scheduling. O course, this is assuming a 9-game conference slate.

You would rank beating Okie st above beating Iowa?? haha. Well, to each his own I suppose.
I dont know why everyone is so scared to admit Iowa is our biggest rival.

Iowa is Iowa State's biggest rival, and Iowa State is Iowa's biggest rival. It cannot reasonably be argued otherwise.

If you aren't going to play your biggest rival, then what is the point of playing at all? It feels great when you win, and awful when you lose. Which is sort of the point.

Sure, in the Scenario of beating the teams I mentioned - an Iowa win is assumed

Iowa is our biggest rival because we can and have beat them. Setting my sites higher this year

I agree 100% Especially on a national Scale. Iowa loves to think they run with the big boys, but honestly they don't have that much of a national image. I was with a lot of my family from Nebraska last weekend. Probably 20 or 30 people and we were talking about the Iowa game this year. They were a little bummed at that being their new "rivalry game" Honestly, most Nebraska fans don't look at Iowa much Higher than they did ISU. The Hawkeyes are not on their level. At least according to Huskers.

I am by no way wanting to get rid of this series, it's great for the teams, it's great for the fans and Huge for the State of Iowa. But it's too early in the year to really mean much outside of Iowa and Big XII vs. The B1G.
