Looking for a really inexpensive notebook computer

Any experience with something for a teenager who basically likes to facebook and skype and a little web browsing?

Check out the vostro line at dell.com. Can also look in their outlet site for other models for cheap.

I would recommend a netbook. They do all the things you mentioned & are way cheaper than an actual notebook.

Re: Looking for a really inexpensive notebook computer

If you are not scared of buying used, I have an HP Mini that I bought about 9 months ago that probably has 20 hours on it. It has Windows 7 starter and an Intel Atom processor. I think I paid about $325 for it.

Everything works fine, I just don't use it as much since I have a full sized laptop.

Actually, I probably don't want to sell it because it's good for travel but maybe you can find someone like me and pick up a good used one.

Yep. You can still find a pretty comparably priced notebook that can do a lot more.

Props to this. dell.com/outlet. They have laptops, minis, duos. Start at $290 and go up from there.

Edit: They've got stuff today starting at $170. Don't get anything with only 1Gb of ram, though.

May my postings be polite and not misunderstood. (And hopefully funny on occasion.)

Re: Looking for a really inexpensive notebook computer

Well, this is what was dropped off by the FedEx guy half an hour ago and I'm posting on CF right now:

Amazon.com: Toshiba Qosmio X505-Q8102 18.4-Inch Gaming Laptop (Omega Black): Computers & Accessories

Oh wait - you said you wanted something INEXPENSIVE! Silly me. There are a lot of decent options on Amazon for under $500, whether you want to buy him a netbook or an actual laptop. Won't be powerful enough to do any serious gaming, but should do the job if all he wants to do is facebook and skype.

Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice?
Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.
