Iowa game.. Biggest turn around in school history?

If we beat Iowa, would that be the biggest turn around for losing to someone one year (by 28) and beating them the next?

I doubt it, but I don't feel like looking it up.

Texas I'm guessing would have the biggest but over multiple years (2007: 56-3 loss, 2010: 28-21 win).

We haven't beat a conference team by more than 14 in 5 years so it isn't anyone recently in the Big 12.

I know the A&M game a few years back was a pretty big turnaround.

    2004 - lost 3-34
    2005 - won 42-14

At most, it would tie Baylor 1996-1997. Lost 49-21 in 1996 and won 24-17 in 1997.

What year did ISU have the big comeback win vs KSU? 04? I can remember KSU putting the hammer to Mac's teams over and over around that time.

Iowa '97 was 62-20 or something wasn't it?

Edit: 63-20, looks like 2001 Nebraska has it beat by a point.

We lost to Iowa 63-20 in 1997 and beat them 27-9 in 1998. That's the biggest turnaound against Iowa.

In 1933, ISU lost by 20 and then won by 25 the following year.

I guess it's not the biggest but I remember we lost to nebraska in 1975 by something like 52-0 and beat them the next year. The thing I remember most of that 1975 game was Earle Bruce on his TV show the next night looked like he wanted to kill himself. Amazing what the mood was just one year later.

Some time before my time on this earth runs out, I would like to see ISU put a 40+ pointdown on Iowa.

The 1998 game has to be the biggest turn around. No one, and I mean no one outside of maybe the coaches and team thought ISU had even the slightest chance in this game. I was at that game and the Hawk fans that walked out of Kinnick were in absolute stunned silence. After the beating the Clones had taken under Fry, most of our fans didn't give us a chance.

Re: Iowa game.. Biggest turn around in school history?

After some quick research evaluating conference opponents and Iowa (teams played every year, typically)... EDIT: After further research, the 72 point improvement is the most ever against any opponent from year to year, or from one contest to the next where ISU lost the previous game. In 1904 ISU beat Simpson by 87 and in 1903 ISU beat Simpson by 9 for an improvemnt of 78 points...but I'm not counting that as a "turnaround".

In 1961 ISU lost to Colorado 34-0 and then beat them 57-19 in 1962 (72 pts)
The aforementioned 61 point turnaround against Iowa from 1997-1998.
In 1975 ISU lost to Nebraska 52-0 and then beat them 37-28 in 1976 (61 pts)
In 2004 ISU lost to Texas A&M 34-3 and then beat them 42-14 in 2005 (59 pts)
In 2003 ISU lost to K-State 45-0 and then beat them 37-23 in 2004 (59 pts)

Not in back to back years, but back to back contests...

ISU lost to Texas 56-3 in 2007 and beat them 28-21 in 2010 (60 pts)
