Will this be the year our spread FINALLY beats Iowa?

What do you guys think? The past two years i've talked and talked about how Iowa can't stop a spread offense(Which they really can't...other than ours). Does Norm Parker have our number? Or can we finally put up some points? I really feel like this is the year that we will FINALLY put up a solid amount of points on offense against Iowa. Iowa plays Zone and Cover 2 more than any defense i've really watched. We have a QB who is not afraid to throw down field, and that probably can be very consistent in hitting the WR's once he gets comfortable. If Steele can find the open man down field or even on 10 yard passes...we may be in some luck. Iowa is going to let you have those 5 and 10 yard passes. It's hoesntly up to our O-Line. Do they want to come play this Saturday...or look like a bunch of high schoolers that play in Class A.

If we take what they give us (see: Northwestern) we can run up the score. If we try what we did last year by going 30 yards down field every time we throw I don't see it. Also would help if we took what they gave us unlike last year when we were running the ball well and then trying to force in a pass to Tyler Sash 35 yards downfield.

I think our d will play well enough to keep us in the game, and if we avoid the big mistakes like turnovers in the redzone we'll score enough points to win.

As some one who suffers from diabetes i find your comment about a one legged pirate VERY offensive. Good thing i'm not a mod, if i was you would feel the ban hammer.

Sorry, but I don't think Iowa State is going to be running the score up on anyone, let alone a defense they have not scored a meaningful touchdown against in 3 years. Iowa State's offensive line struggled terribly last weekend, and I am fairly certain Jantz will not have the patience to sustain multiple 12 to 15 play drives down the field. Furthermore, no team has run up the score on an Iowa defense in quite some time. I highly doubt Iowa State is going to be the team to buck that trend.

Yeah i think running up the score would be a little too difficult. I think putting up 21,28 Points isn't out of the question though.

been hearing a lot of negativity this season from cyclone fans. does anyone remember that Iowa only won 7 games in the regular season last year? don't get caught up in hawk fan hype, they were average last year and are replacing a lot of key positions.

that iowa defense has nothing on the mighty UNI panther defense that held us to 7 points through 3.75 quarters!

I'm still going to blame the O-Line for that game.

Over the last 3 years Northwestern has scored 21, 17, and 22 points against Iowa. Indiana has scored 13, 24, and 9. They get a lot of yards, but they certainly aren't running up the score.

IMO, to win, we must run the ball successfully, and stop the run. If we throw downfield without setting it up with a successful running game, we will play right into their hands again, and lose. If we can't run the ball, we can't win.
