FBS Map: Who would you put in the BIGXII?

Found this map and thought it gave a good visual of FBS teams and how they might fit into a given conference based on its geographic location.

    FBS Map

If the BIGXII folds, it would be nice if the B1G offered ISU and Mizzou. Not that it will happen, but it works geographically.

lot of teams in wrong conferences based on geography.. ISU is def one of the most awkward fits... should be Big 10, no question. kentucky is another one that is funny. Nothing we can do about stupid people, money, and their logic.

Somewhere buried in all this re-alignment BS is an idea for a sweet board game. It'd be like some sort of bizarre combination of Risk and Monopoly.

I say we build up our armies and attack Nebraska. Not because it would be useful. Just fun.

B1G has three states with two teams each. WVU looks like a logivcal one for B1G. Not sure about their academics after I lived in Virginia. They use to come down out of the hills on the weekends. Nah, they probably are not a good fit. Missouri and ISU look to be the best choices for two for the B1G.

Re: FBS Map: Who would you put in the BIGXII?

    Best Case:
ND, BYU & Air Force --Bam! Back on the map.

I threw ND in there because you have to :) I get the fact they are not coming.
3 of the following teams will be in the Big12 if it stays a conference
(no idea who, but we don't have a lot to work with)

    ND
    BYU
    Air Force
    L'ville
    New Mexico
    Memphis (fed ex)
    TCU
    Houston

What I think is going to happen:
BYU, Air Force and either Memphis or New Mexico

I really don't see the Big 12 trying to get Pitt, WV, south Florida, cincy etc... Or do I think Pitt, WV would want to go the Big 12 currently.

Re: FBS Map: Who would you put in the BIGXII?

Geographically? The Big Ten wouldn't have Penn State, and would include the old Big 12 North (Except stupid Colorado. They can take their mountains, and shove it). And we'd break up the conference by geography as well.

But it would be a big conference. Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Purdue, Wisconsin. If you only wanted 12, you could drop the 'N' schools. And Purdue. ****-ing Purdue.

No mention of SMU? They're the only outspoken university begging to join. Don't surprised if our top choices say no thanks...

New Mexico doesn't make a whole lot of geographical sense, but then again neither did Colorado.

They are currently just plain atrocious at football (as is Memphis), but they have a solid basketball tradition (as does Memphis recently), and Albuquerque is a nice-sized city. Could be some potential there.

I hear ya. The talk was they bring a TV Market, and its really not far for the South teams and BYU.

Of course that'll never happen but it puts all the historically similar land grant ag schools and lib arts schools in the same conference which should have happened when the Big 8 expanded. Those schools have similar traditions, values, geography, etc. so of course that won't happen.

    build a big 16 superconference:
9 big 12 teams are left.
add some teams from the following list:
    houston
    smu
    tcu
    memphis

Re: FBS Map: Who would you put in the BIGXII?

the list can be extended to:
    tulsa
    colorado state
    airforce
    byu
go after minnesota in the big 10 since they poached the fuskers away from our big 12. give minnesota a chance to play in a real super conference..that would extend our recruiting base into the gopher territory.. that would be enough to build a 16 team super conference. screw the big ten and the pac 10.everybody else is trying to break up the big 12.lets poach some teams from other conferences...
