Re: FOOTBALL RECRUITING: Official visitors for weekend (9-10)

If we seat the recruits and their parents in the student section again, I hope that the recruits' parents are treated better than last year. Last week I met the parents of a UNI player (red-shirting defensive line freshman from Muscatine) who had attended the official visit last year during the Iowa game. They were not happy with the f-bombs, vomiting, and general drunkeness compared to their other offical visits to Iowa and UNI where they were seated separate from the student sections. Have fun but allow others to have fun as well. Don't be lewd and rude with a 'tude. We are One because we are State.

Get over yourself it is COLLEGE. What did they expect when in that section? 2) They sit them next to the student section not in it.

NHL teams need to be added to the favorite teams section.

Burton visited earlier this summer. Gotta feeling that he may pull the trigger this weekend.

    Cool Story Bro.

Especially considering the Iowa game was at Iowa last year. I doubt ISU would have recruits take an official visit to an opposing stadium...

I noticed that all four guys who visited last weekend would have seen that there was immediate PT available for them. To tell the truth, I hope that's not the case for these two this time around!

You raise a good point. Maybe it's b/c of the time of the game? 11am doesn't give them any time Saturday morning with the recruits. By the time the game is over and they are done with interviews its almost 5pm. I'm sure they like afternoon games better but I am just guessing

That recruit must have been confused. Sounds to me like he was at the U of I visiting there. We do not take recruits to other universities for their visit to Iowa State. Did he say he enjoyed seeing the Old Capitol on the Iowa State Campus as well?

He said that he met the kid's parents, not the kid.

And, after looking at the UNI website, my Mom used to work with the kid's dad, so I'm sure there was just a little confusion as to the details--like the week involved. I'm quite sure that they know the difference between IC and Ames.

I'm just hoping we didn't waste an official visit on a walk on.

Sorry. I shouldn't have said last year. The offical visit must have been the prior year. I assumed last year in error. I should have thought it through a little better.

Also I don't begrudge the students an opportunity to kill a bunch of brain cells; heaven knows I did it when it was not tolerated but I also now know that some parents are uncomfortable in that setting especially when they are with their child. I guess I'd really like to move the recruit seating a little ways away so that the family can see the rabid support but not get vomit on their shoes.
