What a beautiful day in Kansas City

Perfect day to walk to lunch. Here's a picture of my coworkers Larry, Karen Ann, and Tina going to the chinese buffet down by the Sprint Center.

    Speaking of Kansas City...

I haven't been here for too long but how would you rank the "local" teams in terms of number of fans? The radio stations and newspaper really rally around the three...KU, MU, and KSU. I'd argue that there are more ISU fans here than KSU.

Incorrect. KSU/KU/MU dominate that city. Is your argument that you went to a gamewatch at Kelly's and it was a good time?

Re: What a beautiful day in Kansas City

I read about the elephants heading down the street, nice picture!

I think there are still quite a few more Kansas State fans here in Kansas City than Iowa State, however they just seem to be very quiet. There are a few that will have a K-State flag or insignia on their car (license plate border) but for the most part they don't partake in the daily grind of worrying about their team if they even call them that. But, they still far outnumbers us Cyclones here...

Ummm...I live here. I'm new, but I live here. That was kind of a grumpy response...geez.

MU and KU dominate the city. KSU is hardly in that breath.

Ha, didn't mean for that to come off grumpy, but ISU is never mentioned in that city. I lived there for three years (too long)...thought I would have a lot of ISU talk/access, but aside from a couple of organized events there was nothing. Do you work with a lot of ISU grads or something? All I worked with were KSU/KU/MU fans (in that order) and couldn't stand their talk...it was insufferable.

Just moved here last Thursday and ironically ate at a Chinese buffet today. Think I may have seen Larry, Karen and Tina in the booth across from us.

Never argue with an idiot. They will bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

Re: What a beautiful day in Kansas City

the number of people and the number of fans goes like this...
    KU>MU>KSU>Nebraska>Iowa>ISU

although the local media outlets are mostly either KSU guys or MU guys, so thus all the KU people ***** and moan about how the media hates them.

The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come.

Re: What a beautiful day in Kansas City

Simply based on the number of vehicle decals, I would say it's KU, MU, ISU, Iowa, KSU, NE. But I don't think that is representative of the total number of fans for each school. I see far more ISU than KU flags, stickers, etc, but that's because their "fans" are lame. I think because we are such good fans, there seem to be more of us than there really are (which is a great thing).

Re: What a beautiful day in Kansas City

Who cares? The real question is does a Big East network get picked up in KC with KU and MU? I think the answer is yes. ISU and KSU bring nothing to it. ISU on the other hand can deliver at least part of Iowa. That is more than KSU can do on its own. This is all pointless since the Big East is not talking to anyone yet. Any rumors otherwise seem silly, since their commissioner seems befuddled as to why the Big 12 is further dissolving.

It also has to do with when you are in enemy territory you are more likely to have the flag out.
