Lou Holtz gets new post at Notre Dame

Former head football coach Lou Holtz has a new position at the University of Notre Dame: He and his wife, Beth, will serve as the school's first "ambassadors for research."

The University says the Holtzes will take a prominent role in increasing awareness of the university's mission to pursue research that aims to heal, unify and enlighten the world.

The Holtzes have given $1 million to Notre Dame to support research. Three of their four children are Notre Dame graduates.

During his 10 years as football coach, Lou Holtz amassed a record of 100-30-2 and led the Fighting Irish to a national championship during its undefeated 1988 season.

Please tell me this means he loses his position at ESPN.

sounds like the job was completely made up. I doubt he leaves ESPN but I've got my fingers crossed that he does.

Does his new job description also include "spitting on people"? If so, I'd say Notre Dame knocked this one out of the park.

Hopefully the research will focus on delusion, dementia, and Alzheimer’s because Lou has all three.

The only person worse on ESPN is Mark May.

Mark May? I always thought he was a pretty damn good analyst on ESPN.

I guess to each there own. I would wager a guess, should Mark May come out and pick us to have a good year and win 7 or 8 games, everyone on here would be talking about how he does his research and is one of the best.

Obviously, you have not heard Mark May talk about ISU. If he ever picked us to have a winning record, let alone 7-8 wins, I would eat crow. Maybe literally. Hawk homer.

My first ISU basketball game - Fred Hoiberg was on the court.
My first ISU football game - Paul Rhoads was on the sidelines.
But they hadn't yet reached their full potential.

SO PROUD that things have come full circle. #cyclONEnation

I think it's more likely more people would be wondering when he started smoking crack.
