    SPEED TRAPS

It's probably not that big of a shock but a friend of mine let me know that there is a "chance" of some extra patrol men and "maybe" even a speed trap or two on I-80 and I-35 towards Ames.

Just thought I'd get out a warning to an Clone fans in eastern Iowa or coming up from Des Moines.

    Re: SPEED TRAPS

if they speed trap people on the way to ames it is going to cause CHAOS! you never do this on already jam packed interstates. It is not like there will a lot of room to speed unless you are going before 6am.

Just as long as they don't put one between the Tip Top and JTS.

    Re: SPEED TRAPS

speed trap on I-35 North? Yeah, if they start ticketing people for failing to meet the minimum speed limit. That sucker will start backing up earrrrrly in the morning, all the way from Hwy 30/Elwood out to I-35, since a majority of people only know one way to the parking lots.

When I came in for the home opener from MI there were at least 8 speed traps between Davenport and Iowa City, both directions. About 50 troopers and city police had vehicles pulled over. They had a patrol man hiding on the overpass's with the radar gun and then a line of them waiting 1/4 mile away.

I can almost guarantee there will be a cop sitting on top of the bridge just before the Ankeny Airport... They are there about 4 days a week anyway...

You've got company. I bypassed the I-35 / I-80 backup following the Kent State game and thought I'd go the Highway 30 route. I neglected to slow down as I went thru State Center and paid the price!

Dept of Transportation has handed out extra money to use to catch speeder. Then, if you catch a few, and make a few bucks, you can go catch some more speeders. Peter ends up paying a lot to Paul.

    Re: SPEED TRAPS

My last speeding ticket fopr $169 was from a cop with a radar gun hiding behind a beer distribution company where sopeed limit dropped 10 mph. Loved him so much I will never gas up or drive through that town again.
