    couple UNI thoughts

I really like Farniok. In my book, he graded out as high as anyone on the O-line. Branderhorst is going to be a fine receiver - great find. Neal is a good football player and I am glad he is in our program, but we would be better off selecting someone over 300 lbs in the crowd at random than asking him to play D tackle. He really got pushed around easily. Our large freshman, Jensen, was much more effective. Our kicking game is great. Vander Kamp is AA. I think Jantz (sp) is going to be OK ( time will tell). WR is still an issue, Lentz, Horne and West need lots of PT. If we start the same D line vs Iowa, we will lose large. I love the shovel pass. Would like to see it more. Farniok is great at getting downfield on the LB. Hate the shotgun from the 5 in - hate, hate, hate. Game ball to Paul Rhoads for sticking to his guns on the suspensions and coming out of this one with a "W". That will pay off next week. They say teams make the most progress from game 1 to game 2. Let's hope so.

The spread v Iowa opened at 9. I wouldn't touch that with a 10 foot pole with a Kootie killer on the end of it.

I agree with you and let's face it after 4 turnovers and 80 some yards in penalties we have nowhere to go but up.

Good post. I agree. We have probably the worst playmakers at WR in the entire Big 12. Gonna be tough to move the ball.

It's a shame Jantz missed Jarvis on that long past in the second quarter (I think?). I was in the upper deck of the student section and West was WIDE OPEN off the line of scrimmage to the point where a guy behind me was yelling "JARVIS JARVIS JARVIS JARVIS!"

    I have high hopes.

Ah, but UNI was over 110 yards in penalties. This was a positive. I suspect some people will be running extra laps this week.

We were outyardaged by 50 yards again. We turned it over three more times. On paper, we lost. The refs were from the BIG 12 via mars. JTS Magic?

Seriously? Other people were talking about him getting manhandled by Boothby. Which one is it?

    Paul Rhoads' players never quit.
    (They just disappear offseason)

I was referring to how ISU would get better. UNI really only had penalty problems - they played very well. I don't think UNI has nearly as much to clean up as we do.

    Re: couple UNI thoughts

I'm not sure how any of our OL could have graded out well? Farniok was getting to the LBs probably because he just was letting the NG go?

I agree that Branderhorst will probably be our best receiving TE that we have this year. HOWEVER, Branderhorst did have one of our personal foul penalties as well.

If we don't play a LOT better next week, it's going to be worse than last year's game though. I'm not even looking forward to watching this game at all.

This is kinda where I'm at right now. That said, I was like that in 2007 as well. We'll see.

I was really impressed with Washington at Free Safety. I sit in the endzone so I get to watch the defensive schemes. He seemed to know right where to be and he is a good tackler (I thought he had more than Knott until I saw the actual stats). Good to see guys really stepping up.

I liked the 4 defensive backs. They played the whole game well. They were usually around the ball except on the long bomb out of the backfield. They may be our strong point. Kudos for the defensive backfield.

I personally thought center and guard play was the worst OL, they blitz the middle pretty frequent, which cause Jantz's panic and in suing INT's or sacks. This needs to improve verses Iowa or they will eat it up like they did the last 3 years...

I agree. It was fun to watch the defensive backfield play well. What happened on the TD? All I saw was Knott running all alone after the receiver on the sideline even before he caught the ball. Who missed that coverage?
