Jamie Pollard: The buck stops ......where?

As we all continue to "wax loquaciously" regarding conference realignment, I think that it is worth noting that Jamie is in a very difficult spot.
I wouldn't wish this on anyone.

Not only do we have to be concerned about not having a chair when the music stops, this university is between presidents is it not? I honestly do not know the answer.
Is the university being run by commitee until a new president is found, or is Dr. Geoffrey being consulted?

Who is representing the university with regard to the realignment issue?

Jamie needs all of our support right now.

Geoffrey is still at the helm if I'm not mistaken. At least till a suitable new guy comes.

Loquaciously? Now hold it right there mister. Sure we like to post, but in no way are we being garrulous.

Geoffrey is still in charge. He agreed to stay on until a replacement was found.

I agree. I have said repeatedly that I will support ISU regardless of conference affiliation, so my hope in landing in a great conference matters more in providing good things for ISU than to satisfy any individual preferences I have. I have faith in Jamie that he is doing all that he can to keep Iowa State in good shape.

GG is here until summer of 2012 or until the search committee finds a replacement - whichever comes first.

    Trust Jamie.

Thank you for your timely response.

I feel a bit more "comfortable" about our position with that information, but the pressure and the responsibility those two men must feel has to be enormous.

And I do trust both of them to do the best for the university.

This. They are at the mercy of the other schools and are having to play the waiting game to see what shakes out. I'm sure they have contingency plans if the Big 12 implodes. They just to wait to see if they need to put them in play.

Nobody can expect anything more of them. What are they supposed to do...try to get tough with schools like Texas or Oklahoma?

What are they suppose to do? How do you know they are not looking around? Just because the media isnt all over ISU doesnt mean ISU doesnt have a backup plan.

    Uhhhhhh, no.
    Did I give that impression?

I merely pointed out that I am sure they are under some pressure from the responsibility their jobs inherently require and I felt a bit of compassion for their predicament.

I understand that their hands are tied.

While they are at the mercy of some schools for the future of the Big 12, they are not totally powerless or alone. I would think that they are trying to form ties with some of the other schools in the North, putting out feelers (perhaps in tandem with other schools) and also using every avenue they can to make sure ISU lands on its feet, regardless.

This is true. I feel alot better about our chances with them, than any combination of people we have ever had.
